Law School Discussion

Is there anyone out ther who was planning on going to Ave Maria but has changed their mind? I am the next one on the waitlist and will receive your spot!! DON"T GO TO AVE MARIA!! 

If so what is your plan of action? What is the best school to go to, if there is one? Will you try to join a firm or open your own private practice with a friend right out of LS? I am just curious because this is what I would like to do (Criminal Defense). Is the best plan to join a firm or PD's office? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Looking at UDM which is the tier 4 in question all you need to do is check the big firms in the Detroit area. They are littered with UDM grads. UDM has recruitiers from all the major firms in Michigan. The average salary for these firms is about $95000. Now, we do have a top 14 law school in the area, Michigan, but many of those graduates are looking to work in the NY, LA, DC, Chicago firms so that leaves the michigan big firms looking at UDM, Waynes STate, AVE Maria, and MSU. Cooley is recruited almost exclusivly by the Lansing firms. So the bottom line is if you want to work in the immediate area od your law school you are fine but you will not be able to compete realisticaly fro a job in NYC. Which I would say many who attend UDM don't want to do anyways.

Hey guys (and girls) what are your thoughts on Toledo. I am not in your league as far as LSAT/GPA so Tier 1 is out. Toledo is a Tier 2 (94)on the rise, so I have heard. I have talked to some students and alumni who say they have made a concerted effort to improve their rankings in USNEWS (although I am sure the adcomms will deny this). Is this a school with only a good local rep or is it thought to be on the way up regionally and possibly somewhat nationally? Thanks and congrats on all the AWESOME LSAT scores I have seen for you.
