Incoming 1Ls / Re: Michigan State University Class of 2010!

Hey Lox,

Let's definitely get the facebook group started!!  I found a 3L who had a house with a 2L and they were looking to take one more roommate on and I was lucky enough to get the room!!  It is in Okemos, so about a 10-15 minute ride.  If you can't find anything on campus, since it is getting late, check Okemos out.  Also, you can look for roommates through MSU housing site.  Good luck and keep me posted on the facebook group thing.

MSU Law Baby! I just graduated from MSU undergrad and just don't want to leave. Let me know if you have any East Lansing questions. I am thrilled to be joining all of you in the fall!  ;D

Great to hear Lox!  What did you study there?

Thanks for the advice.  I am still undecided, but might end up doing it because it's a reason to get out of Michigan for a week...

It would be a pretty expensive vacation!!  If you are going to spend $1,000+ housing, you might do better by picking up a couple study guides and running through it yourself and then taking a vacation somewhere you actually want to go. I contemplated doing lawpreview myself; however, I think I could invest about $1,500 in ways that would be even more beneficial.

On that note, just curious, but how many of you have some type of scholarship and what are the requirements.

Law School Admissions / Lawschoolnumbers.com logical gripe

I cannot understand why people will put a 4.0 GPA and then proceed to put a 4.0 in their major.  I think that should be obvious from the 4.0 GPA overall!!!  Sorry, I just hate when some people are illogical, especially when they have a 4.0!!

Oh ok.  Nevermind then it's a tossup.

Now you get the conundrum.  If it was 27K a year, that would be very difficult to turn down.

I would go with Case.  I think you keep your options a lot more open there and you still are only paying 8,000 a year in tuition.

No it is 27,000 over three years, so 9,000 a year.

Honestly, if you've made the decision and can't change it, then don't think about it any more.  What good could come of that?

I mean that is a good point, but I am asking under the assumption that I hadn't already made the decision in my own mind.

I think it was NALP directory.  However, I think that it is pretty close to BS.  It lists the median at a 3.10; whereas even the administration says it is a 2.9.  This is what they actually list now. I find these GPA's VERY DIFFICULT TO BUY!!! In fact, they don't even make logical or statistical sense.  I don't see how the minimum grade for a student in the bottom quarter of the class is a 3.49, while the median student is at a 3.10.  I hate all of these stats and schemes that this site, USNEWS, and the schools use to lure students!!  Furthermore, I know of at least one school where NALP lists the median GPA about .2 higher than it actually is.

MINIMUM GRADE REQUIRED TO ATTAIN
Top 10%: 3.82
Top 25%: 3.74
Top 33%: 3.73
Top 50%: 3.62
Top 75%: 3.49

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Median GPA: 3.10
Minimum grade required for graduation: 2.0
