There are so many comparisons between Cooley and Harvard on this board that it makes me sick.  Maybe a better comparison would be between Cooley and Stanford because we know Cooley is in fact better!!  Of course this is determined by going to Cooley's website and look at their rankings.  If that is not a credible source then I feel nothing is!!  Therefore, Top 75% at Cooley is probably only slightly better than top 10% or so at Stanford!! Don't take my word, independent researchers who work for Cooley did the stats.

I think Wayne is better from everything I hear as well.

How hard would it be to get a 3.0 GPA and maintain it at Michigan State University? I know many schools differ, but if anyone could tell me that I would greatly appreciate it!

Current Law Students / Which school is best?

Which of these four schools would be the best to go to?  Assuming someone wants to have a school with a good reputation that might go beyond the region, which would you select?

I would take the full ride at MSU. No debt is much better ;D and whether you are looking to practice outside the state of Mi or inside the state I think that you will get more bang for your buck at MSU. I am in my second semester at Cooley (top 25% of my class) and have talked to a lot of attorneys here in Michigan - many, believe it or not, had rather hire a Cooley grad than one from U of Michigan (no laughs, I'm quite serious). In terms of state reputation Wayne runs behind MSU and Cooley.
Hope that helps!

Thanks for all the great advice, if anyone else has insight feel free to send it to me.  I like the NALP school list, it is very helpful.  Also, you have to be kidding about someone preferring Cooley over UofM!! Are they Cooley graduates?

Current Law Students / Wayne (50% tuition) v. MSU (Full ride)

Hello everyone,

I am trying to find out what my best option is and need some advice.  I have been given 50% tuition to Wayne State along with a fellowship that is given to a select few incoming students and the presidents of the two law journals and the moot court president along with others who have done very well there.  I need to maintain a 3.25 GPA and can get it back for the 3rd year if I lose it.  The other option is to go to MSU-DCL with 100% tuition and need to maintain a 3.0 GPA and also have the opportunity to get it back if I lose it.  Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Current Law Students / Intellectual Property Law Question

I am considering focusing on IP in law school; however, I have neither a tech nor a hard science background.  Rather, I have a bachelors and a masters in political science.  Does anyone know how difficult it is to find a job as an IP lawyer without those type of backgrounds?

Hi Chip,

I could be wrong, but I thought we got those at orientation.  If anyone knows better, I would be interested in hearing the answer to this question too.

Maybe instead of your lsat, schools should merely look at GPA and WPM!!!  I'm in!! ;)
