I actually just went to visit them and I was emailing Meghan O'Connor like twice a week up until I went there for my visit. I just sent her a thank you note and I informed her of my decision to send in a letter of continued Interest. My friend said that they do admit a lot of people off of the waitlist. Mrs. O'Connor actually said that one of the students who is currently a 1L was called as she was driving her Uhaul to another school she had been accepted and promptly turned it around and drove to DC. Another student was called while in another school on the first day of class and left that day and went to American. So it is and will be crazy, but I liked the school on my visit. Very homey, just a real expensive area and a real expensive school, but plenty of options. I am goign to send in my letter and then update my file as stuff comes along. She said that would be fine, just let them know of anything new that happens with me.

I plan on sending a letter to American and i also just visited them. I hope it all gets me into SMU. But yea I should have been auto dinged at most of my places too. So I am estatic.

Yea I have been waitlisted by almost every school I thought was a safety school. Cincinnati, Houston, American, DePaul and deferred at SMU. I would like to get into ONE 2nd tier school outright!!!

In my waitlst packet it said I could contact my counselor noe more than once every 3-4 weeks. I emailed them once and asked if I could send some additional materials and I would suggest that, for the sake of walking a fine line, you do the same.

Yea I have been waitlisted at American, Univ of Houston and DePaul and then Deferred at SMU. I am also happy about my deferral. I will definitely be visiting SMU this upcoming week and submitting an additional letter of rec or 2 AND my detailed letter of intent on why I need to be in the Fall 2007 1L class.
But the only difference I discrened from all my letters was that a deferall could be decided at anytime although they allow up until April/Mayish and a Waitlist will not be decided until at the earliest after they have their initial April seat deposits.

I also got the waitlist letter and I am considering attending becuase my good friend is a 1L there and she LOVES it! I was also deferred at SMU, but if I am admitted there then I will pull off American's waitlist. I will be sending in another letter of Rec and at least 2 letters of intent. I will bother them as much as possible and allowable. Thats what my friend says is needed to show interest so they dont wait their time accepting people off the waitlist to fill spots.

Who is your first choice? I dont think that they will really bargain with you if you were to put down the deposit, although there is still a possibility that you could leave and choose another school. I doubt they would give you significantly more money, but as I am finding out, there is always the possibility in the Law School Admissions process.

I was waitlisted as well. I was anticipating that though. At least I was not outright rejected. One of my friends is a 1L there right now and I plan on visiting, writing a letter of intent, contacting them every month and I have an additional letter of rec adding to my file. I am still waiting on other decisions, so this actually might not occur, depending.

Hello this will actually be my 1st post on here so bare with me. I actually wrote about how each of the three major points in their mission statement aligned with my life and what goals I have for my life. I am also not religious but I am spiritual and although I hate to have religion shoved down my throat, I do not believe I would be deeply affected, negatively, by attending an institution with a basis in religion. if you want I can either post my response here or sned it to you in a message if need be.
