Where should I go next fall? / Re: Duquesne V. Drexel
« on: April 21, 2007, 02:53:50 PM »I am a future Drexel 1L and I would be one of those people. Honestly I doubt I would have taken the gamble unless i received a full ride (I received 12k/yr from Temple) but I am happy with my choice. The Drexel faculty seem to be taking a very pro-active role in insuring the success of the first few classes. I have talked to a few Drexel 1Ls and it seems most have already secure (good)jobs for the summer. A few are even paid positions which is impressive. I can't remember the entire list of jobs that I heard, but it included firms, judges, public interest groups and the like. Not bad. Also, something to note.
Drexel's inaugural class had impressive numbers. The average was a 3.4 GPA and a 156. I dont have a USNews, but I would guess this is higher than Duquesne.
Seems that a lot of quality students are taking this "gamble"
Good marketing technique.
Of course it is a gamble.

The school I'm favoring right now gave me a pretty good budget, and if I use what I've saved from my job now to set up my apt I'm looking at rent/utilities around $1200 and $500-1K a month to spend. Somehow I'm feeling like that's going to be considerably lower once I'm actually in the situation but seems good to me...
