Choosing the Right Law School / Re: Duquesne V. Drexel

Also, something to note.

Drexel's inaugural class had impressive numbers.  The average was a 3.4 GPA and a 156.  I dont have a USNews, but I would guess this is higher than Duquesne.

Seems that a lot of quality students are taking this "gamble"

Good marketing technique.
I am a future Drexel 1L and I would be one of those people.  Honestly I doubt I would have taken the gamble unless i received a full ride (I received 12k/yr from Temple) but I am happy with my choice.  The Drexel faculty seem to be taking a very pro-active role in insuring the success of the first few classes.  I have talked to a few Drexel 1Ls and it seems most have already secure (good)jobs for the summer. A few are even paid positions which is impressive.  I can't remember the entire list of jobs that I heard, but it included firms, judges, public interest groups and the like.  Not bad.
Of course it is a gamble.

your "middle america" bashing is extremely obnoxious.

Choosing the Right Law School / Re: Kansas vs. Indiana Bloomington

...KU is arguably the best school for the KC area...

Do you know what others might be considered as good for the KC area? I also got into Washburn and UMKC, but I was thinking KU is definitely better than those.

And yes, the in-state tuition is very nice.
Mizzou would compete with KU.  I still say KU is better than Mizzou because Mizzou splits between KC and STL.  KU seems to filter almost entirely into KC with some going to wichita and some of the top students going to chicago.

Still it is debateable between KU and Mizzou.

I've been trying to figure this out for weeks :P The school I'm favoring right now gave me a pretty good budget, and if I use what I've saved from my job now to set up my apt I'm looking at rent/utilities around $1200 and $500-1K a month to spend. Somehow I'm feeling like that's going to be considerably lower once I'm actually in the situation but seems good to me...

Question: If your school budgets you for a specific amount and you have an amount left over that seems high, would you lower your loans? If not, what do you do with the excess?
Pay off interest?

I will be taking out 20k for living expenses.  This is in philly.

I say definetely KU.  KU is arguably the best school for the KC area and it might be difficult to network your way back to KC (though probably not too difficult honestly).  Unless you love IU-B when you visit i say KU is the (semi)easy choice.

Law School Admissions / What happened to the search feature?
« on: March 19, 2007, 04:45:31 PM »
I realize theres the features on the main page but is there a way we can access the GOOD search feature?  The one that allowed you to sort posts by relevance, newness etc.??

Not to burst your bubble, but I doubt most temple or drexel students make 20k during the summer.
Please do burst my bubble!  I am not looking to be coddled or anything just want to know what i can expect for debt.  I guess the 20k summer reflects summer employment and any money i could make doing work study during my 2L and 3L.  Do you think that might be high at either school?
