Richness is the satisfaction of material desires; wealth is their irrelevance.

I will attain both by banking on the reemergence of cumbersome electronic devices.  This portability trend is going to fizzle out.  Buy 8-tracks.

Law School Admissions / Perspective: Why Law School?

We're all talking the nuts and bolts of the application process, but I find myself wondering...Why do you want to go to law school???

My dream is to live in a house on the side of a mountain and have a job that requires me to simply shoot a few expert e-mails every day.  As long as that job equips me with wide planks and a 4-WD vehicle to get into town for steak and sushi, I will be marvelously content.  If that mountain happens to be in the Alps, those e-mails happen to be to the UN Secretary-General and that steak happens to be eaten in be it.

Why are you doing it?

Visits, Admit Days, and Open Houses / Re: U of Denver

I just withdrew my app yesterday; I hope that frees up some cash for future Pioneers.

I knew I would never attend, but I had a good experience dealing with DU.  First of all, I love the city of Denver (I live in a hole a few miles south).  It is my favorite city west of the Mississippi (skier bias perhaps?).  I was given a one-on-one tour by one of the admissions officers before I even applied.  She introduced me to the leading professor in my field, who spoke to me for several minutes and gave me his e-mail (I am citing him in my thesis).  You can't beat a shiny new building.

I left DU thinking that even my super-safety would be an OK experience.

I've got to give the nod to Northwestern too.  The physical "package" was gorgeous, and (I don't know if this counts as part of the "package," but) my interviewer has been contacting me regularly and even offered a trip to the Windy City.  I received NULS and UMich on the same day, no contest.

i still haven't gotten anything. columbia hates me. seriously.  :'(

Don't worry, avocado, you're still lovely.  I am chalking my empty mailbox up to painfully sluggish USPS service in my city.  Maybe postal employees' more general distaste for their work can be blamed for both of us.

Monday morning!

Congratulations to all of you!

What good is this blasted interweb if you can't find a simple photograph of a primate SNOW skiing?
