hey bc2006,
well since you said that you only went to the main campus twice last year im assuming that you didnt use bc's gym. i was wondering what other people you know did... did they go to the bc gym or did they join a private one?

i ask because i stopped in to check out the bc gym last week and i have to say, i was VERY disappointed! the place is a disgrace! the ENTIRE weight room is about the size of my living room! there is a decent amount of cardio stuff, but there are just about no weights. ive heard rumors that there is a small gym in one of the dorms on the newton campus; is this true?

well, its on excel (insert nerdy engineer comment here) so i cant post it on this site... but lets just say that it doesnt leave me with much free time. though if i budget my time well, i just might be able to squeeze in a shower ever couple of weeks or so :)

15 hours of classes + 2-3 hours of study time per hour of class time, figure 40 hours on average for 55 hours of work per week.  Not too bad, until you factor in your first year writing seminar, which can easily add another 10-15 hours per week.  So, figure about 70 hours per week if you want to do well, and increase that by a 30% in the 2-3 weeks before exams.

its cool... well just have to cut back on certain "perks" to make time for studying... like showering for instance. personally, i plan to shower once a week whether i need it or not :)

well, i was VERY bored last night and if you log into agora you can look at class listings for the upcoming semester (for the entire college... not just the law school). the course numbers are listed in the little packet that they sent us. i just drew up the schedule for each section. as it turns out, the class times are the same for all 3 sections... its only the classes that change (eg, one section might have torts at 10:15 and the other might have property).

yeah, i was thinking the same thing. at this point, though, im planning on seeing so much debt when i graduate another hundred here or there just doesnt get me all worked up. i think maybe second semester it will be easier to buy books online since everyone will already know what section they are in. im going to give bc the benefit of the doubt and assume that there is just still a lot of confusion about who is going to be showing up for the first day of class and who isnt so they cant really finalize all this stuff. at the very least, though, you could buy the books for the LRWW class online. im gonna stop into the book store next week (a week from monday) and see how big a savings it will be to buy some of the stuff on line. ill let u know what i find out.

mac, sony and toshiba (in descending order) are all known for their quality and reliability, though there is a fair gap in quality between sony and toshiba. with mac and sony, though, you are going to pay a premium for that reliability (though if you have the money, id argue that its probably worth it). dells are great because of 1) the relatively cheap cost for a lot of machine and 2) the great warranty. though the quality is somewhat lacking (though not horribly).

if you have the option, id definitely steer clear of compaqs and hps. they are VERY cheap (just about disposable) and that can be a big plus. however, id argue that the low price isnt worth the stress of having to replace a computer mid-semester (or even worse, just before finals!). in 3 years you wont feel the extra $600 you will spend on a better quality computer. but if you dont spend that extra money, your grades (or your hair line) might reflect it.

[edit] oh yeah, i forgot about ibms... those are known for their quality (as well as their cost) also. they will probably cost somewhere between a sony and a toshiba.

well, just make sure that you talk to the dean... not some random dude in admissions. also, it couldnt hurt to talk to a lawyer and a CPA... just to see what your options are, what mistakes (if any) you made, and how bad the mistakes are.
