Why? Because I know first-hand. I have friends who lost their scholarships. They all say it's an extremely competitive school.
You can also check out Princeton Review. St. John's is listed in the top 5 of most competitive schools. 12

Keep in mind:
St. John's is an extremely cutthroat school. Most of the student body will be fighting to keep scholarship money. 13
