General Off-Topic Board / Re: That's it, Rearden.

Fair point.  It's not racist on its own.

It's just ignorant and sickening, and leads to a racist sentiment.

And, in context of the statement, is reflective of racist sentiment.

breadboy's rephrasing was such that it included "belief that one's own race is superior and has the right to rule others."  what is the argument for how this is anything but racist?

It doesn't assert a right to rule over others on its own.  We're being highly semantic now.  I was trying to be simple and pull out one stupid sentence in a very stupid paragraph.

The thing speaks for itself.

Harmonium, or anyone else, it behooves me to think that anyone could see this sentence alone as not being unbelievably ignorant and racist:

Quote
500 years ago white Europeans were exploring the globe, making strides in astronomy, inventing things, writing great pieces of literature, but blacks were doing nothing.

Can someone point to some of these alleged racist statements?  Garry would like to judge for himself...

Ask about their work experience philosophy, how it has changed their admissions process, and why they think it improves the school.

Law School Admissions / Re: too late for LSAT???
« on: January 22, 2007, 09:45:58 PM »
I have been told by several people that I need to retake the LSAT. I have been thinking about it and even though I don't have time, I am going to do it. However, I looked at the Feb. test date and the late registration date has already passed. Is there anyway I can get registered for the test or is it a lost cause now??

You're screwed.

June it is.

Which means comparative reading RC passage!!!

Oh no! The world's coming to an end!!!!

Law School Admissions / Re: Michigan Status Update: Decision (Nov 14)
« on: January 22, 2007, 09:42:10 PM »
You know...I really don't like this kid, and my estimation of HLS has gone down just that much for letting him in. And maybe he didn't check his race on the actual app, but if he checked it on his LSAC account, it shows on his report. Yes, I am bitter, but only at people who do ridiculous "experiments" when there are many other people who genuinely want to get in and attend, and don't treat the admissions process as a glorified joke.

At the same time, if there was ever any evidence that ad-coms don't look at LSN, he's it.

Good point...though I think they look (as per MTG experience, but not en masse like some claim here).

This feminine hygiene product is rig*ddamndiculous.  I hope he really was Michigan's first ding, if only because it'll give me additional faith in Zearfoss' bullsh!t/@sshat detection capabilities.

She didn't have the chance to detect it because the whole story is bull.

Law School Admissions / Re: Interesting Addendum question
« on: January 22, 2007, 09:41:25 PM »
Say one takes the LSAT a total of 3 times. 145, 143, 160. And the reasoning for the 1 high score is because one saved enough money to take a prep course. Do you think an addendum describing this would be valid and understood? Of course it would be to schools who take the highest score.

Eh -- it's not that interesting a question.
