Choosing the Right Law School / Vanderbilt waitlist
« on: June 01, 2005, 01:35:26 PM »
Did anyone else hear anything from Vanderbilt today?  I got a call around noon to notify me that I had been accepted off the watilist.

I'm not sure Vanderbilt would be worth it at this point.  I decided over a month ago to head to Emory -- found an apartment and everything.

I definitely want to practice in the South, and, like many kids, I'm paying for school completely.  Emory offered a nice chunk of change (you can see in my LSN profile if you want), while Vanderbilt (obviously) offered none.  Do you guys have any advice?

Choosing the Right Law School / Emory v. GW
« on: February 20, 2005, 09:48:22 AM »
I had my Emory tour a week ago and absolutely loved it Ė students were really nice, professors I talked to were impressive, and Atlanta seemed like an awesome place.  I donít know much about GW, and Iíll obviously withhold my decision until I visit there (April 1).  Is anyone else down to these two schools?  Has anyone found any good reasons for GW over Emory or vice versa?

Choosing the Right Law School / Duke -- get ready?
« on: February 18, 2005, 10:51:43 PM »
I sent for a status check at Duke 2 days ago.  They sent back an email saying that a decision was sent out on 2/18.  Seeing as they've been doing e-mail notifications for acceptances, I'd assume that this means they've started sending out rejections (since I didn't get an e-mail).  Just thought I'd let yall know -- I really hope I'm wrong.

Choosing the Right Law School / Duke?

Anyone know what's going on with Duke's admissions?  I've seen a number of acceptances on LSN but no rejections.  Do they typically wait til the end to send rejections out?

Law School Admissions / Deferred: What to do?
« on: December 25, 2004, 09:10:43 AM »
I remember hearing a list of things you can do to improve your standing if you're waitlisted (i.e., additional LOR, additional statement, visits, etc.).  Do these same sorts of actions work to your benefit if you're deferred, or is it best to just leave your application alone?

I received my acceptance today -- no need for congratulations -- just wanted to let people know that some decsions were sent out.

Personal Statements, Resumes, and Letters of Recommendation / Anyone?
« on: October 29, 2004, 06:12:08 AM »
Anyone care to look over my personal and/or diversity statement? If so please just let me know via e-mail ( or AIM (GatorKevin1).

If anyone would like to ready my PS, I could really use the advice. I wrote this about a week ago, and so far I've sent it to one wonderful girl on this board. I'm at a point right now where I'm trying to decide if my overall idea/theme is okay so that I can plow forward w/ making it better-suited for law school admissions. Any sort of crticisms/corrections are welcome--from adding commas, to just telling me which parts sound stupid or unappealing.

If you are decent with this sort of stuff, I could really use your opinions and criticisms before I waste any more time on it.

Email me if you're willing....thanks.

Studying for the LSAT / Canceling question
« on: June 18, 2004, 12:05:49 PM »
Does anyone know whether or not you're supposed to receive some sort of confirmation of the cancelation? I faxed mine in a couple days ago but no word back.

There has to be some way to verify that it went through....right?

Do you still find out your score or anything else about your performance? That would definitely suck...unless you did real bad...
