I received scholarship money from both schools making the costs similar and I am choosing to go to Temple.  I do want to live in the city so that's part of it.  However, a big part of the decision for me was the lack of diversity at Villanova.  Since the students are primarily white and upper class, it seemed like it would really be lacking a lot of perspective whereas at Temple they get a pretty diverse student body.  Some people don't care much about diversity, but I think it adds a lot to a legal education. For example, I look forward to discussing racial issues and the law with people from different races, not just people from my background. Just something else to think about.

I got in but I have withdrawn my application.  Hope that frees up a spot and some scholarship money for you!

Law School Applications / Re: Villanova Scholarship Information

Regarding scholarships, I applied in November, was accepted in February and received a letter (snail mail) with scholarship info a couple of weeks following my acceptance.  Not sure if they are sending out more or not, I assume they are since they are accepting people so late.  I will not be attending so that should free up 10k per year.

Where should I go next fall? / Re: WL at Miami

I don't know the answer to that, but as an accepted student we were told they could not extend the deadline for the deposit because of "the number of qualified students on the waitlist."  I will be withdrawing so good luck!

Where should I go next fall? / Re: Harsher Grade Curves!!

I looked into the grading curve at Miami and was a little confused.  All of the students said it was a very tough grading curve.  When I sat down with the financial aid people however (to find out how difficult it would be to maintain a 3.0 and thus keep my scholarship) I was told that 3.0 was just above the 50% mark, so that did not seem as bad as everyone made it sound.

Law School Applications / Re: Visiting Miami

I went to visit Miami the last week of January.  I was really impressed with the campus, the buildings are nice, there are fountains and pools and a lot going on and its just really pretty there.  All the students I met there seemed really happy, although I talked to one girl who was on scholarship and said she was barely holding onto the GPA requirement.  This made me nervous, so I met with some administrative people and was assured that about 90% of students retain their scholarship despite the difficult grading curve.  The teachers I met with were awesome, really knowledgeable and personable and the class I sat in on seemed really interesting.  Coral Gables and Coconut Grove are really nice as are some other areas, it seemed like a good place to be for a few years.

No idea - I was going to ask them about how the process is.  I probably would switch into full time but not sure where I'll be going yet.

I originally applied full time only, then called and asked that they specify that I would prefer full time but would also be happy to go part time.

In Part Time with a 163/3/28.  Kind of surprising, but nice!  I didn't talk to anyone, they just left me a message.

Agreed.  I went to visit and I stayed at the Holiday Inn right near campus.  The hotel was fine, it was like 15 mins from the airport and across the street from the shuttle that takes you around campus.  Tell them you are visiting the school and you get a discount rate.
