Where should I go next fall? / Re: Penn St vs. Syracuse
« on: January 05, 2007, 03:36:05 PM »
There are full curricula at both facilities. State-of-the-art video conferencing is available for higher lever electives that might be taught only at one place at a time. I went to an open house at the Carlisle campus, and they said they're one of the only (or maybe the only, I forget) school for which the ABA has approved this. It seemed pretty cool actually - seems to open up more options.

Law School Applications / Re: IS IT TOO LATE?
« on: January 04, 2007, 12:52:50 PM »
Ok, these posts have calmed me down a little (I'm in a similar situation - I have everything in except one stupid LOR...grrr....)

BUT - what I really want to know is, am I too late to get MONEY? I'm pretty sure I'll get in to where I want to go (not trying to sound cockey, but my top choice right now is Penn State Dickinson and I have a 4.11 / 166 - well above the medians). But if I don't go complete for another couple of weeks, will I still be able to get a scholarship?

Affirmative Action / Recommended Reading
« on: January 01, 2007, 04:39:44 PM »
This has always been an interesting topic to me, and it's clearly one that matters to a lot of people. I've enjoyed reading everyone's feelings on this. I am currently an undergraduate admission counselor at a small college, so I have perhaps a different perspective than some. There's a great book called "Leveling the Playing Field: Justice and Politics in College Admissions" that I would really recommend to anyone who wants to learn more about affirmative action and what "merit" actually means.
