and even if they were banned, how would you collect them?
if youve ever seen the bumper sticker, says something like

they can take my gun
out of my cold dead hands

alot of people in the south/sw believe that....

...and quite a few of us in the north believe it, too.  I'll bet I'm the only gay person on this board who will say this:  "You can take my GUNS from my cold, dead hands."

I have hunted deer with shotgun, crossbow and muzzleloader, and every one was taken ethically, legally and eaten with gusto.  I own guns, have my concealed carry license (Ohio), and am proficient in the use of my Kimber CDP .45.  Taxes that I pay on guns and ammunition go to state and federal programs protecting wildlife:  http://www.fws.gov/laws/laws_digest/fawild.html

I have the inalienable right to defend myself and my loved ones against those who would attempt to take our lives and our freedoms.  That said, I am not a "gun-nut," nor do I brandish or use my firearms in acts that bespeak twisted displays of anger.  I am just as disturbed by the events at Virginia Tech as others on this board.  But taking away my guns, as well as the guns from every other law-abiding gun owner, will not solve this problem.

A legally armed citizen being able to use their concealed carry weapon might have helped minimize the number of lives lost.  No, this is not to advocate a "Wild West" type of scenario.  I fervently hope I NEVER find myself in such a horrific situation.  But I would rather have the chance to fight back and possibly stop the gunman than die knowing I could've done something to stop the bloodshed, but was prevented from doing so because of gun control laws that only controlled me, not the gunman.

Frankly, I view gun control as a way to keep women and minorities--including gays and lesbians--from defending themselves.  I think this group has it right:  http://www.pinkpistols.org/   "Armed Gays Don't Get Bashed!"

BTW, anyone who wants my delicious homemade venison summer sausage recipe, send me a PM.  Tasty, low-fat and 100% Ohio deer meat.  Goes great with cheese, crackers and beer!   ;)

I feel like I'm going to get crap for this one  :D

This is probably not doing anything to improve my man-hating reputation around here....

I love this tune!  Used to be big-time into country music until I had an epiphany and rediscovered contemporary jazz.

And as far as the man-hating goes...I'm a lesbian, and some of my best friends are men.  (Well, they were until I began working with them at that damn fire department... :D)

You give me chest pains when you say things like this.  I think I was 19 when "The Tide is High" was a hit.   :D

My God, they still haven't given you a decision yet??  It's late enough now you might try calling to see what's going on...

Good luck!

Guess I'll be calling, too, but maybe they're laughing so hard at my numbers that they've yet to catch their collective breath to send me the ding letter.   :-[

It's astounding
Time is fleeting
Madness takes its toll
But listen closely
Not for very much longer
I've got to keep control

I remember doing the Time Warp
Drinking those moments when
The blackness would hit me
And the void would be calling

Let's do the Time Warp again
Let's do the Time Warp again

It's just a jump to the left
And then a step to the right
With your hands on your hips
You bring your knees in tight
But it's the pelvic thrust
That really drives you insane

Let's do the Time Warp again
Let's do the Time Warp again

It's so dreamy
Oh, fantasy free me
So you can't see me
No, not at all
In another dimension
With voyeuristic intention
Well secluded, I see all

With a bit of a mind flip
You're into the time slip
And nothing can ever be the same
You're spaced out on sensation
Like you're under sedation

Let's do the Time Warp again
Let's do the Time Warp again

Well I was walking down the street
Just a having a think
When a snake of a guy gave me an evil wink
He shook-a me up, he took me by surprise
He had a pick up truck and the devil's eyes
He stared at me and I felt a change
Time meant nothing, never would again

Let's do the Time Warp again
Let's do the Time Warp again

It's just a jump to the left
And then a step to the right
With your hands on your hips
You bring your knees in tight
But it's the pelvic thrust
That really drives you insane

Let's do the Time Warp again
Let's do the Time Warp again

Now------------->child support enforcement investigator
Before her------>firefighter (bad, bad move)
Before her------>college student, bio major, tree-hugger and all-around uber liberal

Been happy for fourteen years.  She has a personality 100% opposite of mine, but most importantly, she's no dummy.  And she completely supports my walking away from a successful public service career (and full pension) to pursue this law thing.  God love her!   ;D

NO PANSY, IT DOESN'T GET EASIER. NOR DO YOU GET A BLANKET OR NAP TIME.

NOW DROP DOWN AND GIVE ME [A] 20 [PAGE APPELLATE BRIEF]!!

AND GET OFF MY EFFIN' OBSTACLE!!!!

R. Lee Emery as a law professor would have everyone wishing for ten days and a wake-up.

Sharing every day with my significant other
Snuggling with my four pugs for an afternoon nap on the couch
Deer hunting   :'(
Golf
Seeing my friends at Curves
And, yes...I'll probably miss the rush of fighting fires, saving lives and just being an overall highly dedicated public servant.  (Well, I'll miss the fighting fires and saving lives parts at least...)
