Minority and Non-Traditional Law Students / Re: Props to Non-Trads

Also, because I enjoy quiet leisure activities at home, I am so grateful that I can pass up (because I am an old fogey) those "law revues" at noisy, crowded clubs/bars, where the goal seems to be (according to what some of the younger ones say) getting as wasted as humanly possible in as short a period of time...no thank you; been there, done that, got the t-shirt...NEXT!

Same here.  Did my fair share of drinking in college and as a firefighter.  I've discovered that--Wow!--I can't do that anymore now that I'm in my mid-forties.  Guess I'll have to spend all that time studying instead of drinking myself to oblivion.   ;)

400,000 vehicle deaths last year....I think it's time to ban cars.  Whose with me?

Over 500,000 deaths in the US last year because of heart disease.  Let's ban all fatty foods, close all the fast food restaurants, arrest people who eat butter.   ;)

I live in FL- those old people speed and they give you the finger if they have to go around you. I figure that grandma knows she doesn't have time to waste

That'll be me someday.  Not the living in Florida part, though...

Old people driving period, scares me. Nobody over the age of 65 should be allowed to drive.

Try telling that to the first group of 76 million baby boomers who'll turn 65 in 2011.   :D

I own a dog that posts on the internet.
She is a pug.

Hey, my pugs know how to use the computer, too!

This isn't scary:  www.ohiopugrescue.com

I would be extremely interested to know the percentage of women and homosexuals particularly who carry guns. Unless you can cite some statistics here, I think that's about the most absurd argument against gun control I've ever heard put forth.  ::)

This is the only argument I need to make--I have the God-given, inalienable, Constitutional right to bear arms.  I have the right to defend myself, my loved ones and my freedoms against those who would take them away.  If you want statistics, go to the NRA's website.

Criminals don't obey laws--that's what makes them criminals.  Signs saying "No guns allowed" won't stop criminals from carrying/using guns--they only stop people who obey rules and laws.

Sorry if you think wanting to defend oneself is absurd.  Frankly, I find the counter to be the absurd position.

25. Tell us one interesting/odd fact about you?  I didn't know I was adopted until I was 29 years old

wow ... thats kinda rough...

I'm OK with it now--at 45 I'd better be!  But it was kinda rough for the first year.  I'd look in the mirror every morning and wonder who the hell I was.   ???

I eventually found my birthmother (birthfather was dead), but we never developed any kind of relationship.  She told me I was immediately taken away from her at birth so she didn't even know if I was a boy or a girl.

I found out I was adopted by mistake:  My adoptive father was dying (mother was already dead--15 years before) and during a meeting with me his doctor made an innocent comment about how alike Dad and I were, even though I was adopted.  Huh?  Poor doc felt like a schmuck, and I was so mad about having been lied to for 29 years that I stormed over to the hospital to verbally assault Dad while he lay dying.  (Not one of my prouder moments.)

OK, I'll stop hyjacking the thread now.
