Some country is good.

I like "The Fireman" from George Strait... ;D

Yeah, they call me the fireman, that's my name.
Makin' my rounds all over town puttin' out old flames.
Well everybody'd like to have what I got,
I can cool 'em down when their smolderin' hot.
I'm the fireman, that's my name.

Last night we had a bad one a mile or two down the road,
Yeah my buddy walked out and left his woman burnin' outta control.
Well, I was down their in 'bout an hour or so,
With a little mouth to mouth she was ready to go.
I'm the fireman, that's my name.

They call me the fireman, that's my name.
Makin' my rounds all over town puttin' out old flames.
Well, everybody'd like to have what I got,
I can cool 'em down when their smolderin' hot.
I'm the fireman, that's my name.

--- Instrumental ---

I got a fire engine red, T-Bird automobile,
In a minute or less I can be dressed fit to kill.
I work twenty four on and twenty four off,
If they get too hot they just give me a call.
I'm the fireman, that's my name.

They call me the fireman, that's my name.
Makin' my rounds all over town puttin' out old flames.
Well, everybody'd like to have what I got,
I can cool 'em down when their smolderin' hot.
I'm the Fireman, that's my name.

They call me the fireman, that's my name...

This seems to be the theme song of every firefighter with whom I work.   ;)

If I had gone straight from undergrad to law school, I never would have...

...been appointed to my hometown fire department, become a firefighter/paramedic, saved a few lives, lost many more  :'( , learned about building construction to the depth that I have, discovered how many people live in squallor, finally realized that many don't care that they do, watched two teenage girls die after being hit by a train, learned to get drunk at nine in the morning the day after watching two teenage girls die after being hit by a train, helped close down a bar that covered for a drug operation, and learned what I am physically, mentally and emotionally capable of under extreme and dangerous conditions.

Yup, that about covers it.

The best sandwiches in the entire world....
Discuss.

Thick-sliced fried bologna sammich at Bud's Place, Sandusky, OH.  On rye bread (heavily buttered and grilled on the grease-stained griddle) with a huge slice of raw, sweet onion, melted swiss cheese and brown mustard.  Wavy potato chips, a deli dill pickle and a cold draft round out the meal.

That's real food.

Camo (Mossy Oak pattern) sweat shorts
Navy blue t-shirt with SFD logo
White crew socks
NB 1222s, 9-1/2-wide (women's)
White Hanes

Oh, yeah, and glasses.  Blended bifocals.   :-[

+10.  I love bananas, plus they have lots of potassium.  And really, really, REALLY ripe ones can be used to make banana-walnut bread.  Yum!   ;)

Usually the socks were each a different neon like hot pink and hot green.

I think I'm a little older than some here...does anyone remember toe socks?  '70s fashion faux pas.  I preferred tube socks, with blue stripes, pulled all the way up to the bottom of my knees.   :D

Hackey sack is a good idea.... but if they have a little quad with some grass a set of Jarts would take the cake!

Never got the hang of Hackey sack, but I loved Jarts.  You could put a serious hurt on someone with those things...

i used to love twinkies when i was a kid, so i had some a few years ago and was very disappointed.

Try them deep-fried.  Everything is better deep-fried!  Some two-bit vendor at a hokey local festival in my area serves up deep-fried Twinkies every summer and they are absolutely addictive.  He dips them in batter, dunks them in bubblin' hot trans-fat, and lets them cook for about a minute or so.  Food of the gods.

Deep-fried Twinkies and a cold draft.  Now that's real food.
