Transferring / Re: Anyone hear back from GULC?

Soft factors: parents are from Kashmir (war-torn region in northern India), I wrote about this in my personal statement, which I felt would "set me apart" (I guess not).  I was a research grant recipient in undergrad, law review, dean's list, high grade in legal writing.. .

I had awful undergrad #s (155 / 2.7).  That's probably what tipped them towards waitlist.

Yeah Congrats Brenda.  The GW is deadline is July 1st right?  Sounds like they were eager to get you in there! (perhaps to preempt a GULC offer?)

T4
GPA: 3.68
RANK: 4/216 (Top 1.8%)

Applied EA in March, got deferred, now waitlisted.  Oh well... I guess it's better than being rejected (sort of).

Waitlisted at Georgetown... dammit.  They didn't even wait for my final rank!  This is really annoying.

The method Orbits suggested is correct.  That is what LSAC told me to do.

Congrats OldCraig... I take it they have had your rank for a while now? I am thinking they're holding off on giving me a decision b/c they don't have my final rank yet.

Also, as an SC native, I can affirm that you're dead on with your USC observation; if you go there and do well, you're set in SC.  Outside of SC is another question, but if you're comfortable with settling there I'd say that's your best option.

How well did you do? If you finished well enough to transfer, look at Emory. They seem to take quite a few transfers and they are one of the best schools in the south.

I have some friends who went to USC and have mixed reactions but if you want to live in SC the alumni base is broad. Plus, can't really beat the in state tuition which is easy to secure in SC (make sure you get an SC driver's license when/if you move)

Someone on transferapps who got deferred was able to access the admitted students site yesterday.... Has anyone else on here heard anything / have access to the site?

General Board / Re: Why does it take so long to get class ranks?

The thing that annoys me is that these morons are toying with my future here...

Or they're trying to ensure their own.  Mind saying where you go?  I'm always interested in knowing what schools do what and why.  Law school administration seems very interesting to me.

You know what also seems interesting? Chocolate covered raisins. Dried fruit is never tasty no matters what type of fruit it is, but cover it in chocolate and there you go. A whole different taste. Even when you eat the chocolate covering first and then eat the raisin on its own, it still somehow tastes good. There's just something about the process I guess.

Dried fruit is never tasty?  Blasphemy.  Dried apricots? Pineapple? Banana chips?  C'mon buddy.
