Job Search / What does a summer asssociate do?
« on: December 21, 2007, 07:28:39 AM »
I was fortunate enough to receive an offer from a great law firm in the area I want to practice.  Even though this is a 1L position, I would really like to work at this firm post-graduation.  Needless to say, I want to make a good impression.  Are firms usually understanding that, outside of the required 1L classes, 1Ls typically don't know much?  Do they try to coach and supervise your learning to make sure you have a good work product or do they expect summer associates to already know what they should be doing?  Should I be doing anything other than working on my legal research and writing skills to prepare for the summer?

Any advice from those who have been through it would be greatly appreciated.

I think I may have to.  I guess I was just hoping that I could put it on my mp3 player and take it to the pool.  I spend too much damn time on this computer already!

Has anyone on this forum had any success in regards to converting their LEEWS cds to mp3 format?  I really want to purchase the cds but I don't even have a cd player anymore and haven't heard of anyone being able to rip the cds to an mp3.  Any thoughts?

So you guys think LEEWS really helps?

Would you recommend the audio version or the live one-day session.

I think if you want to go ahead and get some prep under your belt, read getting to maybe and possibly pick up a barbri first year review on amazon. The barbri book will be great during your 1L classes to keep you on track.

Probably won't help much.

That would suck if we couldn't use laptops in class.  However, I know a few other schools that are doing the same as yours (I think our faculty is divided on the issue).

Although I valued rank the least of the 3, I placed heavy weight on regional reputation.
