Studying for the LSAT / a bit confused -- need help
« on: January 14, 2007, 11:33:02 AM »
So i started reading LRB...and the book talks about focusing on the structural relationship of components within the passage. The second goal is, if you see argument, identify conclusion.
My question is this: how do you approach LR question that contain argument? Do you identify conclusion and kind of fix in your memory the premises?
My point is that the focus seems to be on the conclusion while not on premises...don't we have to take into consideration all pieces
I would appreciate your help.
Thank you friends!

« on: January 07, 2007, 01:08:03 PM »
Liz posted explanation of a member here, explaining "Point of Disagreement" questions? She pointed  out that disagreements most often come from premises. Actually, they most often come from conclusions of both speakers... anyone agree?

Studying for the LSAT / Reading Comp. Needed your opinion
« on: December 27, 2006, 04:34:26 PM »
i am still waiting for NOva to be delivered to me...
But i read over the notes that you guys wrote on this board (thanks to Liz!!)

ok this is my plan for attacking the RC:

While reading the passage:

- circle important signal words
- pay attention to the first and last sentences of each paragraph
- makes notes in the margin (can be one word or short sentences)
- underline quotes, important places, phrases, etc

When answering questions:
- do global ones first
- explicit ones: look at your underlined, circled info and answer properly
- when asked about lines, read a couple of sentences before and after to understand the context
- read passages with most questions first and least questions last

these are short notes but please let me know if i missed anything,,,
Thanks guys for your help!

Studying for the LSAT / another question...
« on: December 25, 2006, 04:59:53 PM »
ok i think i mentioned before that i wrote the LSat with literally no preparation... i just glanced through Bibles, didn't read the instructions for RC and got 148... i thought i was a genius getting 3.65 from a good school... so the LSAT would be no biggy..

First, i would like to thank you all for your suggestions. I truly appreciate your input.
Second, i want to take the test next Sept. This time i am preparing my ass off. I  ordered Nova and Super Prep and will start studying Bibles thoroughly...
ok now the question is, i wanna take the powerscore course because i want to make sure that i do well (i need minimum 164)...
this question might seem really dumb but i will still answer... ok POwerscore offers the courses in July and August... now i am worried when to take... if i take in July, what if i forget by Sept... and if i take in August what if i freak out and won't be fully prepared... PLEASE HELP me MAKE UP MY DAMN MInd
Thank You!
