Some dumb girl I work with just stood up from her cube and screamed: "I just paid off my student loans in full - Yay!"

First of all, why is it that some people think that wearing jeans is considered too casual??
Not to be rude -- and your point re: overdressing is very valid -- but because sometimes, wearing jeans is too casual. Stylish does not always equal formal or appropriate. Obviously, when appropriate, a stylish pair of jeans are great -- I'd agree that they make up some of the nicest clothes in my wardrobe too.

No I agee with you and know the jeans are too casual sometimes. I meant for class - Sorry if that wasn't clear.

My husband is a musician and thinks that "The People Around us" would make for a really good band name...I think its really stupid.

I'll start.

I work in Client Services at a small engineering firm. I have to handwrite thank you notes for all clients we send proposals to. And its not like I can just write whatever I want, I have to follow a pre-written script. I seriously ask myself why I had to go to college to do this.

A couple of comments...

First of all, why is it that some people think that wearing jeans is considered too casual?? Its much too broad of a statement...Some of the nicest (and most expensive) pieces fo clothing I own are jeans. And they can be dressed up or down. Someone who is wearing khakis that don't fit and a wrinkled shirt is not going to look as nice as someone with nice jeans and a button down (ironed of course).

Secondly, this is sort of related about how it sticks out when you dress too nice. My husband works at this place thats very casual. Right now a lot of people are unhappy and are trying to leave. Yesterday this guy who usually wears baggy black raver jeans and an insane clown posse hoodie came in wearing khakis and a blue dress shirt. EVERYONE asked him if he was going to a job interview (which he was).

I haven't had a smiluated law class yet, but when I was looking at colleges, there was a simulated class at Loyola University Chicago. It was very strange and very cheesy!

I told my boss that I have been accepted to law school...and initially the a-hole was like congratulations...a week later, he is like, I notice your work effort has changed, and blah blah blah. My other job my manager is always looking at me funny. I am thinking both of yall can kiss my ass! yeah, beotch I wanna get paid, and this petty ass job can kiss it.

As you can see, I really looking forward to law school.

I bet your work effort hasn't changed one bit...And thats why I haven't told anyone about my law school plans.

Potential legal employers tend to request your UG transcripts (especially for 1L summer positions). That would be motivation enough for me!
