Choosing the Right Law School / Re: SLU, Seattle or Syracuse

Cuse does well in upstate NY, have no idea about the portability of the degree. The only good thing I can think of is that the Cuse as a school in general has more national prestige than the other two. Plus, you get to visit the wonderful Carrier Dome and cheer on the Orange, that's a great time. Biggest crowds in D-1 B-ball.

Both have high cost of living???? Um, no. Cost of living in DC proper is a lot higher than Ithaca.

Housing in Ithaca is kind of tight because of the two schools. Plus, I assume a car is needed in Ithaca, where DC has better public transit. Just from doing the figures, I'd put COL at about $1000 a month for both places. If I'm missing something, please enlighten me.

Go to craigslist and do searches of apartments and rooms in Ithaca vs. DC. Yes, you could probably live on $1000/mth both places, but you'd be getting very different things for your money. Also, while it is certainly helpful to have a car in Ithaca, I wouldn't say it's necessary -- with a bike and a good pair of walking shoes, you'd be OK. I've lived both places -- though it's true I've only lived in Ithaca during the summer, when the housing is cheaper because its sublets.

I never learned how to ride a bike. (Seriously, not a flame.) I'll agree DC is more expensive, but Ithaca isn't like getting an apartment in West Philly. A 1BR on Craigslist usually runs 7-8 hundred.

Law School Admissions / Re: Waiting for NYU

Went complete late October, not a word. Anecdotal evidence claimed their admissions office is a zoo, so I did not send anything else in except an updated transcript through LSAC. I hope by the end of March I will know one way or the other.

Both at the lower end of the T14. Both have high costs of living. One is in a dangerous part of a big city while the other is out in the middle of nowhere. Both are expensive as an entry-level beemer. Both place well, but not through the entire class. Which would you go to?

I am taking a buyout. March 30, I walk and am paid through July, then onto student loans. My goal, to shoot under 90 this summer.

Acceptances, Denials, and Waitlists / Re: Acceptances for Fall 07

Hey Oddibemed, we could all be classmates in the fall...

Just got a letter from Gtown part-time program. Nice note from the dean about "remaining a hoya" for three more years, though it's highly unlikely I will..

If Penn or NYU does not come through (and I tend to think not), I will be at Cornell in the fall. I'm from the area, so I'm excited about getting into the great school and still being able to make it home every now and then. I like G-Town, but the gigantic class size scares me a little.

You mean still at "complete"?
