Law School Applications / OMG! NOT REJECTED AT PENN!!!

Well, not yet, anyway.

I was sure that slim white envelope from Penn was a rejection, but I opened it up (quite bravely, I might add) to find the words, "hold your file for further review" GLARING back at me. My brain quickly processed this, and I shouted out loud:

"HEY EVERYBODY! PENN DIDN'T REJECT ME! HOLY CRAP!"

They seem to be asking me to send them further evidence. I'm not in school anymore though. What could I send them?

Where should I go next fall? / BIGLAW Job Prospects

How bad are the BIGLAW job prospects at the 25-50  or 31-50 schools?

Its becoming more and more apparent to me that the top-30 is probably an unlikely landing spot for someone of my credentials.

Anyone?

Studying for the LSAT / How do you study?

Ok. I've taken the LSAT before, gotten a 165 and realized that it isn't good enough to make Adcomms forget about my GPA. So I'm taking it again in Feb. Thing is, last time I took the class. Now I plan not to, but without the structure, I am not really sure what I should be doing.

I'm not particularly weak in any section, I just need to add a couple more correct answers overall. I want to just take practice tests, but it doesn't seem to be useful, because I can't really  time myself the same and my house is noisy and distracting...

What do you guys do to study?  How often? What's your plan?

I noticed that there were quite a few people who are applying to both US and Canadian Law Schools. I wasn't aware that US and Canadian Law Degrees were interchangeable as far as admission to the bar is concerned...

What do those people know that I don't?

Law School Applications / Cornell Rejections

Well, I got the ding letter from Cornell today. Thin white envelope, postmarked on friday. The letter was brief, it mentioned the normal "regrettably we can't..." stuff and had a paragraph about transferring (explained the process, no guarantees or anything).

Lets commiserate.. who else?

General Off-Topic Board / Quack or No Quack?

My friend who is in chiropractic school is mad at me for calling him a quack. However, he is claiming that by cracking my back (or "adjusting my spine" -- whatever fancy terms he's planning to use), he can prevent my liver from deteriorating, and cure all sorts of un-back-related diseases...

Sure sounds quackish to me. Your thoughts? Am I justified?

Law School Applications / Emory? Cardozo?

I'm looking for schools to apply to with good career prospects. Preferably mid-tier 1 to mid-tier 2 in quality, although I'd be fine with a lower-ranked school if it had good NY/Philly career prospects.

In particular, I'm considering Emory and Cardozo. What's the word on those schools? Any current students at either lurking around?
