Law School Admissions / Re: Military service help at all?
« on: October 05, 2004, 06:43:37 PM »
military didn't help me either...and being forward deployed wouldn't even buy me a deferment. so not only did it not help me in, but i also got screwed and had to reapply last year. no matter what people say, all that matters is the lsat...if you can get a 168 on the test there aren't many schools that will reject you, even with a poor gpa and arrests. either way, there's a post identical to this one on the vault right now you might want to check out.

no sense stressing out, all my reports were ordered last year by the first week of september....only one of the schools got back to me by the last week of even called me because they knew it was so late i wouldnt be able get my seat deposit in by the deadline. have fun guys. like Mr. T used to say....I pity the fool!

while in the phd program have you published anything??? if you do well and have published stuff, a bunch of the top schools are inherently looking for the scholarly types. gpa's in a science field are impressive no matter what some of these jabronis would lead you to believe.

Law School Admissions / Re: Grad school to law school question

if you withdraw from grad school right away, there won't be any grades...without grades there's no record of you even being there i wouldn't think. you could just play it off as if you got in, and chose not to go.

Choosing the Right Law School / Re: safety stats
« on: August 27, 2004, 06:27:32 PM »
Safeties are safety school rejected me last year. according to lsac the year prior 46/47 people with my numbers were accepted. well, if they didn't change, i was that 1 schmuch at memphis last year. c'est la vie i guess.

No doubt MCAT is in a parallel dimension from the LSAT. I actually tend to argue the GRE was harder than the LSAT...but I took it before they changed it last year, the new version with an essay definitely makes it easier. But the GRE still takes a more well rounded person than the LSAT b/c you need to do math/verbal/demonstrate an ability to write. whereas the LSATs categories are pretty homogenous.

Ruskiegirl has a point. LSU, gives free copies of Office XP to all of its students, as well as anti-virus software. some poor bastards wasted a couple hundred bucks....should have seen their faces at orientation.

Law School Admissions / Re: ec's/experience listing
« on: August 04, 2004, 08:53:00 AM »
I listed the stuff where asked...but i always included a resume with all my apps. i'm not sure what you have for ec's/work experience...but if you have advanced degrees and work experience it would be foolish not to let it be known.
