General Off-Topic Board / Re: Women: Are you a height bigot?
« on: January 17, 2007, 09:32:51 AM »

I hear this a lot but I'm not sure I buy it, I don't give a sh*t if the girl is taller than me and wears heels, puts me at eye level with interesting bits (If you can't tell that was both deliberately inflamatory because this pisses me off, and a facetious statement. Never can tell if the tone is coming off in print.)

I know how you feel when I encounter crap like "C cups and higher only!"  I guess women don't have it a whole lot easier, if at all.

Oh believe me, I don't think its easier for women, I evaluate women on a standard the I can't live up to, and I will be the first to admit it. However, I have "wiggle room" in most of my evaluations... Example (crude but illustrative), I am an "ass-man" however my last girlfriend was draggin' quite the wagon, but had a lot of other nice qualities at the time.

I don't have any standards that have the hard cut-off I have encountered many times in the height department. That's what bugs me, it seems there's no room to move. I can't make up for being short by being funny etc. About the only cure I have seen is being loaded, which is why I seek gainful employment, that and to buy beer for when I go home alone  :(

(Again, please read this with the humorous bent in which it was intended)

Perhaps the taller girls feel a little self-conscious already and don't want to draw more attention to their height by dating a short guy?  I don't know.

Plus there are so many cute heels out there, and if the taller girl already feels self conscious being seen with a shorter man, she's now forced to wear flats.

I hear this a lot but I'm not sure I buy it, I don't give a *&^% if the girl is taller than me and wears heels, puts me at eye level with interesting bits (If you can't tell that was both deliberately inflamatory because this pisses me off, and a facetious statement. Never can tell if the tone is coming off in print.)

At 5'4", I won't date anyone under 5'10".  Sorry.  :P

This is exactly the kind of bigotry I have come in to contact with, its like there is a strict number and if you don't meet it you're done. Sort of like if HLS said LSAT less than 179, no dice...

How much does a man's height matter to you womenfolk? I am 5'7" or 5'8" and I have been running into the tall girl brick wall a lot lately. I even had one girl directly tell me "I like you but you are too short." She was probably 5'10" or so. So women, are you discriminatory?

Coop, OMGzors, that was hilarious. And I'm convinced there are some out there that don't get it. Delicious.

kirps, I just wanted to apologize for my snarkiness from before. I realize now that we are kindred spirits, for I too am a prestige whore (ask anyone). Keep in mind, though, that name recognition and rankings don't coincide, plus prestige is often regional. If you find yourself in Charlotte, don't be surprised when the Wake Forest grads snicker at your Cornell degree. "Cornell? Where the @#!* is that, Iowa?"

And no problem homeslice
