Some women just ARE NOT attracted to short guys.

And sometimes it just takes the right guy.  I have always dated guys who were about six feet tall or taller (I'm 5'3") and loved that they were tall... When I met my current boyf (5'7") I thought, "Well, this isn't going to go anywhere, I like tall guys."  Wrong.  I'm completely crazy about him and the height thing just isn't an issue at all.

I think that's the OP's point.  Some women don't have an open mind or give him that chance.

ding ding ding winner, if I had a cookie I'd give you one.

5'11" is alright, but below that is sorta freakish. it's supposed to be a relationship, not a circus. just keepin' it real. your race analogy is weak, kirps.

A) you've just called me freakish because I am less than 5' 11" tall. A physical characteristic which I can't change.

B) A racist hates/discriminates against someone for the color of their skin. A physical characteristic which they can't change.

I'm not saying that wanting to date someone taller than you is akin to being an orderly for Dr. Mengele (sp?) But I am saying that the immediate dismissal of someone solely for their height isn't totally innocent either. And we all do things like that, I just want it to bear consideration.

get over it & stop whining like a short lil stump!  no matter what you say, there are women who actually prefer shorter men.  just b/c you haven't found them yet, doesn't mean that those of us that don't want you are bigots.
hell, there are men who don't want me, but i don't label them as bigots to make myself feel better, they just aren't attracted to me.
& some women just ARE NOT attracted to short guys.

best answer I've heard, a little snarky perhaps, but best framed. To be fair though the reason I use "height bigot" is 1) because I like the way it sounds, 2) because a whole class of people have been discounted, not just me, and 3) to provoke response, apologetic, angry or otherwise, and it has definitely worked, so thank you for proving my point.

But it could be done. I've got a friend from rugby who is one of the coolest guys I know, great player, graduate degree in mechanical engineering, funny, owns his own home, but is only about 5'3" or 5'4". What's a guy like that supposed to do? It's not his fault, he's not a drug addict or some lazy bastard, but the guy can't get a date to save his life.

5'3". Hell no.

See, that's cold *&^%, and that's what I'm talking about bigotry. Replace 5'3" in the above sentence with black, jewish, amputee, whatever, and you are on the ACLU's *&^% list... Just food for thought.

I'm not a height bigot.  As long as he's not shorter than me, it's all good.

Sorry honey, but that is exactly the definition of a height bigot...

I'm 5'5".  It's pretty hard to be shorter than me.

kirps...have you noticed that your personality has disguised your height somewhat? Several people are surprised when I mention that im 5-7 and always say that thought I was taller. If i suffer from SMS, it manifests itself in the extroverted/sarcastic/life of the party way so I like to think my "larger than life" personality makes up for my short stature.

I have noticed that, but it kinda comes back to mite me sometimes, i.e. I will make a good impression on a girl, or personality-wise she'll think I'm great but it will come back up when she starts thinking about romantics, so to speak. Very few of my friends would describe me as a short person, but when it comes to dating, it seems to break the deal for me. i.e. the girl who said "I like you but you are too short"

Mona Lisa is exactly right.

I have no trouble admitting the "short man syndrome", as you can tell from this post I've obviously got myself a case. I contend that this is brought on by the reaction I get to being short. You can't be compensating for something if that attribute isn't having some affect that must be compensated for.

There are a couple of versions of SMS. I happen to have the variety that is non-violent but very loud and joke-oriented. I tend to operate with a high-energy level and a lot of comedy/sarcasm. I personally find the fight-picking variety of SMS to be much more annoying and potentially damaging. There is also the less common wall-flower variety, but @#!* that noise, its too boring.
