I've read on this board that UW doesn't place too much emphasis on their rankings except for purposes of placing students in law review -- that there isn't such heavy competition for grades as there would be in other schools. For those of you that know what I'm talking about, wouldn't this make it harder for UW students to find jobs elsewhere? I'm worried that employers outside of Washington might question a student's performance if they don't have the usual means of comparing them against other students in their school.

Incoming 1Ls / How much do these attorneys make?

I'm working with (not for) a 20-attorney law firm in a city with pop. 400,000-500,000 population. They do plaintiff's work, focusing primarily on workers' compensation, employment and personal injury cases. I'm finding myself more and more drawn to this kind of work. About how much money does a first-year associate in this type of firm make? Any estimates?

follow directions.

No Cal, that didn't help. Thanks for trying.

I just called the relevant LS's admissions office, and they offered to take a 2 page paper.

For those of you reading this, there is AT LEAST one law school that will take a 2 pager, even if their directions say 3-5 pages.

When schools email you saying that they're giving you a fee waiver, that's for the $50-60 application waiver itself, right -- you still have to cover the $12 for the LSDAS report?

Most schools seem to want a 2 page personal statement, but some schools are saying 3-5. This may be a silly-sounding question, but for those 3-5 page schools, are you REALLY supposed to write an extra page or so just for them? Has anyone encountered this?

I meant for those schools that are closed for the winter break. Will it matter to them if you submitted your application at the beginning of break or at the end? I'm thinking in terms of what order they review your applications.
