Law School Applications / Re: Heard from UC Davis?

It makes me angry when they don't update their checker everyday.

Dude, that's so funny, because I just checked too, and I turned to my girlfriend and said, "Man, I hate it when they don't update the damn site!!"

Especially on a Friday too! I give them until 5:30pm.

2/15 deadline

I thought the deadline was in March?  Unless it's different for graduate school.  Also, is it true that each school has their own deadline?

Where should I go next fall? / Re: Hastings or Santa Clara?
« on: February 02, 2007, 03:35:54 AM »
I believe that Santa Clara is ranked #4 for IP law and Hastings doesn't really have an IP law program.  So if you want to do IP law, I'd def. go for Santa Clara. I hear Hastings is located in a not so safe area, but since you're from the city, I'm sure you'll survive. Plus there's the whole culture shock you'll have with moving to suburbia.  However, Santa Clara is located around a nice little area and downtown San Jose is developing nicely. I think B-list celebrities actually hang out there now. I met Carson Daly there once...

As for ranking, I feel that only people in the legal profession would know of Hastings.  I mean, I grew up in the Bay Area and didn't even know Hastings existed until applying to law school.  I think that's all the advice I can give that hasn't already been given.  Good luck, it's a tough decision!

When did you apply?

Submitted all apps by early November.

They might talk to each other if you do you binding ED. They want to make sure that if you decide not to go to their school, you're really didn't reject them for a better ranked school. That way, you won't be going to ANY law school.

2 Choices:

1. Take a year off and apply again.

2. Go to Miami for a year and then transfer.

I don't think it'll make you look bad if you withdraw last minute unless you plan to apply again next year.  You should also go visit the school, see what it has to offer and ask them those questions about career placements.  Honestly, I think Tier 2 is not bad. But if you feel you can do better, you should reapply. You never know if you don't try.
