Woot! California is awesome! My grades go up "tomorrow," but since it's after midnight here I thought I would check and they're all there! And I'm not upset about them! Woo woo! I might be able to get a clerkship yet!

No, Miss P, you're racist against people who like Asian people. You and Bugs both.

YES QUITE. Although not yet. mwahahahah west coast.

I went to Pancho's byself and had a nice burrito. Rice and bean. Poopface. [carnitas carnitas carnitas carnitas] [next time] [but no guacamole if I get carnitas] [carnitas carnitas carnitas carnitas].

Oh, and I only kind of had brunch byself at Olea, since I was on the phone with my mother the entire f-ing time, literally. I had one bite of my omelet when my phone rang, and then that was it. I walked out still on the phone with her.

My bf is definitely away, since from where I am sitting, I am here, and if he is not here, by me, then that means he must be away. (What do you mean, flaw in my logic? Never.)

I think I'm going to start calling people macaroons. Like, "What a maroon," which is already old-timey and mostly obsolete, so I'm going to see if I can tap into people's synapses and get them to subconsciously agree with the idea that saying "What a macaroon," while old-timey and mostly obsolete, is actually a thing, and not something I made up.

My macaroons came out pretty nice. Quite a few are underdone but the ones that came out nice are nice. Also I think I can make these during passover if I'm not feeling too strict (the coconut is pre-processed, so I can't bring them to my parents or anything, but I can make them in the apt).

I ALREADY EATED AT TAI CHI OMG THEY GIVE YOU SO MUCH SOUP.

Sorry. I was just a little excited there for a second.

OMG also guys I baked. I baked only a little (macaroons) (and the jury is still out on outcomes) (and btw it is hard to create lemon zest without a grater. I had to use a vegetable peeler and a serrated knife and I don't think I got enough because these "Lemony Almond Macaroons" based on the snippings I ate from in between them ain't so lemony). I told bf what I was doing, and he was literally like "What...the @#!*?"

As in, you? My girlfriend? ...Baking?

Also I took myself to see Away We Go last night and I THOROUGHLY hearted it, but had a sad since John Krasinski LOOKS LIKE MY BOYFRIEND WHO IS AWAY. Only taller. JK is taller, that is. Kuh-LEARly. AND I WAS BY MYSELF. BYSELF. New portmanteau, spread the word, y'all. Byself.

I had brunch byself at Olea and had an omelet with salad on the side. (I wanted french toast.)

I am going to Pancho's for a burrito and am going to have a black bean and rice burrito (I want carnitas).

I just had all my clothes taken in, but three weeks of eating like a freshman in college has caught up with me so it's back on the wagon because I LIKE MY SKIRT AND I WANT TO WEAR IT. Not to court, though.

THANK YOU P!!!

I had checked all the chain stores b/c this is like totally the kind of thing gap or old navy or urban outfitters would have by some no name brand amirite? And they didn't have it and I stopped checking but OMG THERE IT IS.

I am going to call my local Old Navy RIGHT NOW and see if they've got these in stock.

I also bought these on Saturday but they're shipping out to Boston (tm Dropkick Murphys) b/c I wanted the black but needed an 8.5 (weirdly--I am not an 8.5 so if you're interested, anyone else, size down on these bad boys):

On sale! Under $30! Real leather! Cheep!

Something-with-studs was also on my shopping list. It was technically a studded clutch but good golly I do not live a lifestyle where I have need of any kind of clutch, and I definitely have a flat-shoes lifestyle. Sigh.

This is also the edgy-black-ankle-boots problem. I had bought these but decided (ultimately) to return them. When would I wear them?

'Cause those would go over SO. GREAT. in court.

The reviews are really key. But also different kinds of shoes usually require different sizes: closed-toe-closed-back shoes usually mean you should size up, esp. if there's a pointy toes, but a slingback usually means size down, because a too-loose slingback is unwearable. Also, if  you know your size in different brands, that helps. Like I'm always a 9.5 in Franco Sarto, but I usually take an 8.5 in Nine West. It's definitely a crapshoot, though. My work pumps, I bought three pairs and returned two.

I've been obsessed with finding a certain pair of shoes for like a couple months now: quite plain, possibly patent, round-toe black flats with a tan sole. As plain as possible, actually.

It's REALLY DIFFICULT.

I decided that they don't look French enough unless they have a tan sole. SO MANY BLACK FLATS have black soles. Even if every other color has a tan sole. It is a pain in my ass.

Had found these:

and these:

but the first ones, I didn't love how they were elasticated a little, and the second ones have that pleating detail.

Plus they are both hella expensive.

And so then I just saw these on zappos:

And while they do have a bow, the price is relatively reasonable and I think I like the cut of their jib (not too scooped, not too high).

Thoughts?

Menfolk too!

I set my alarm for 8 and spent from 6 to 7:45 tossing and turning before finally giving up and getting up! Sucks!

Actually if you wear them all the time, your tendons get screwed up and you can't wear flat shoes anymore.

It's like heroin.

I am going to be passing out flyers protesting the proposed budget cuts at the North Beach Festival today from 11ish to 1ish! People should come say hi! I think from 11 to 11:30 I will be at Caffe Trieste (dnq)! My boss is the one organizing it! He was still looking at me as I got the signup sheet! I decided that I shouldn't ask him for a clerkship letter of rec until mid-way through week 5 so I still have about 10 more days where I've gotta be full speed ahead!
