General Off-Topic Board / Re: PRENUP - why is it such a sore topic?

But it's not just about how much money cleaning/raising kids is worth.  It's also about the professional sacrifices the woman made to do that.  ljg's post is a great example of that.

I'd agree, this should be taken into consideration.  I still agree with everything e is saying though.  I don't think the woman is entitled to nothing, I just don't think she's entitled to half in every situation.  For example, the girl I've been going out with for a while is going to grad school for social work.  She'll come out making 45k or so, while I'll be closer to 200k.  Say 6-8 years from now we get married and start having kids, she's making 60k or whatever, I'm at 300k.  She quits and raises the kids for 5-10 years, then we get divorced.  I would say she's entitled to what her salary would have been for those years she was raising the kids, not half of mine.

I don't know about TV, but I liked her in "A League of Their Own."

Yeah, if anyone annoyed the bejeezus out of me in "A League of Their Own," it would be Evelyn Gardner played by Bitty Schram.  She was whiny.

(I did have to look that up, I don't have an encyclopedic knowledge of "A League of Their Own.")

There's no crying in baseball.

Plus her damn kid ate the lineup.  She really sucked.

Couldn't agree more.

This movie might also be the only cinematic endeavor where Madonna doesn't suck.  NOT A LEADING ACTRESS, PEOPLE.

Couldn't agree more.

Are you taking recent LSATs?

On average, Harvard students may score higher on their LSATs. Or, and probably more likely, there exists a bit of incestousness between Harvard College and Harvard Law. This, actually, seems to hold true for most of the Ivy League. 27% of Yalies who applied were admitted to HLS, according to one website I recently visited.

No, actually Harvard students do score higher on their LSATs. (So does Yale)

This seems more likely.  Harvard and Yale UGs did better on their SATs, and I would imagine there's a pretty strong correlation between SAT and LSAT scores.

Another Facebook question:

How likely is it that someone just created a profile of my boss from a year+ ago (a ~50 y/o politician) and made me his first (and currently only) friend?  Only about 3 of my facebook friends even know his name...

The profile has his real email address.  Not his official one, either.  I don't think I have any facebook friends that are wily enough to get his personal email address...

(I definitely have friends that have enough time on their hands to fake a profile just to mess with me, though)

I would just friend him and see what happens.  If it's friends messing around you'll probably realize pretty quickly when you get stupid messages/wall posts.

Speaking of facebook, does anyone else absolutely hate Rosie O'Donnell?

"It's Not Too Late to Apply to The University of Akron School of Law!"

"Dear [redacted]:

Our records indicate that you may have plans to apply to law school for the fall 2007 semester, but that you have not yet applied to The University of Akron School of Law. Itís not too late! We will be reviewing files throughout the spring and summer months. The applicant pool is as strong as ever, though, so the sooner you apply, the better."

I dunno, I'm not persuaded unless they sweeten the deal with five free itunes downloads.

I keep getting these letters from Hofstra, maybe because I live 5 mins from the school.  I almost applied because I heard they give a free t-shirt to admitted students and I paid for 2 LSAC reports I ended up not needing, but then I decided it wasn't worth the effort.

Bosco, aren't you coming straight from undergrad?  Shouldn't you have about 14,000 t-shirts that were free (and didn't involve real effort)?

14,001 > 14,000  ;)
