lol, what are the f-ing odds?  That had to be a little awkward :P

Oh, and here's something you'll find funny.  I played in an impromptu hat tournament on Friday.  We won out...  granted I had two money cutters, but I handled the vast majority of our points, and did my share of upline cutting.  And didn't get tired once.  So yeah, I'm pretty much back.  So as long as Johnny has his step back...  y'all are utterly proper screwed next spring ;)

tell me about it.  on top of all that, I got an e-mail from Mich explaining they'd like to offer me a spot if I was still interested when one opens up...sheesh.  too bad these couldn't have come earlier in the cycle!

Just got an e-mail from Dean Z asking if I was still interested in a spot in the class, however my plans at Penn are too finalized at this point to make such a drastic change.  As MP said, it would have been nice to drink some of the Michigan kool-aid though!

I didn't want to try.  I probably could have leveraged the Silverman, but I really wouldn't want to be anywhere else except Penn so it didn't make much sense to waste Mich's time

i just got an e-mail from Mich asking if I was still interested in a spot in the class.  Perhaps randomly meeting Dean Zearfoss had more of an effect than I thought...but I'll still be at Penn, no worries  ;)

Busey and johnny, you'll find this funny (from my post in the penn thread):

Quote
So i'm back from my exhausting trip to Philly.  Although it will totally ruin any remaining shred of anonymity I have on here, I have to tell this story from the trip:

So while I was in the area, I decided to stop in to the admissions office just to say hi.  I walked in and there were a few women sitting in the chairs in the reception area and as I entered I saw Dean Post hobbling around on a crutch.  She was very hurried, so I just quickly said hello.  Before she left, however, she said she wanted to introduce me to some people.   She turns to the women sitting in the chairs and proceeded to introduce me to the Dean(s) of Admissions from Michigan (Zearfoss), Chicago (Anne Perry), and UVa all in a row.  My entire cycle could be summed up by the individuals in that room: WL at Mich (still waiting), denied at Chicago, offered a spot off the WL at UVA, and accepted by Penn.  Oy vey.

Here's the reading list that Mantis found.  I think I'm going to aim for The Brethren and at least one of the Lessig books.

The Brethren is fantastic.  Very, very highly recommended

Uh oh...I think I told all of them that they were my first choice...not to mention the fact that my "Why Mich" essay was exactly the same as my "Why Penn" essay, except for the names of course

that was the first thought that went through my mind, although i tailored each of those letters to my interests in the specific schools a bit more than just with a name change  :P
