I think both groups here are being extreme- obviously there are some gunners at penn (ahem, section 1), just like there are certainly some at UVa. On the whole though, I think Penn's student body is very friendly, as it has a reputation for.

in terms of the politics, positions and outward expressions of political ideologies/positions are particularly amplified right now, given the election tomorrow. its not a very political place (nowhere near what you get at the DC schools, for example) usually

nice to see the 1Ls taking over for me and TeamPam on here
 I know most of the 1Ls who post on here, and they aren't just blowing smoke. it really is that nice of a place to be  also, in terms of outing ourselves to others re: the LSD thing, i've found it somehow ends up getting out who is on here. I was surprised to find out who outlaw was though, as that individual may attest  . i tend to out myself, only because its widely known that i'm the only 2L who can be seen wearing birkenstocks year round (yes, even with socks in the winter...go ahead and laugh). if you see me around, come say hi

i'll be leading the group, meeting at the law school tomorrow night, downtown to dave and busters, and i'll be there all night with you guys. i'm looking forward to it as a nice break from all these interviews!

Is everyone enjoying orientation so far? I met a lot of the 1Ls (probably some of you guys as well) at the bowling night and at my morris fellow dinner, and you guys seem to be a pretty good class

A former resident of our building used to really like him. I actually like his theory, so you can put me in the pro-Robinson club as well.

Burbank - none of you will really get this right now, but remember this once you are about halfway through his course: he wrote 28 USC 1367, the supplemental jurisdiction federal procedure rule. unbelievably, insanely smart (although 1367 doesn't necessarily reflect it; see: Amy Wax's opinion on supplemental jurisdiction). Everyone knows civ pro is the hardest class you'll take first semester, but Burbank is a great teacher. Be very, very prepared for that class though.

Struve - universally loved Baker - a bit crazy/eclectic, but some people love him for his complete acceptance of other people's viewpoints Johnston - its sad, but the only thing I know about him is that a lot of women have crushes on him (he's apparently pretty good looking). other than that, I know nothing |
