My sentiment is that it's only bad if one hits you... We didn't have power for weeks after Charley. I would consider that a major hurricane. I'm just saying it's nothing to be scared about. There are plenty of natural disasters that are more fatal. 23

But seriously, hurricanes aren't anything to be too scared about. It just causes a lot of property damage b/c of high winds and minor flooding. But I guess I'm not an expert, I've only been in a category 3 (and 2 and 1 and 1....) before in the '05 storm season. Plus, hurricane parties rock. 24

I was in Miami this weekend too! I expected to party in South Beach but was surprised to find out about this urban beach weekend deal. I ended up going to the Grove all weekend and one international club on Sunday. The Grove was nice, but it reminded me of any standard college bar scene. The other club I went to was crazy-- I can't believe the clubs in Miami don't stop serving alcohol at 2... I was there until 5am! And $20 cover... for a girl?? But to get to the point, I guess the whole party atmosphere worries me. I hope I won't be too distracted. 25

Why not? I think it shows that you're willing to go the extra mile to impress the adcomms. When pulling from the waitlist aren't they going to look for people who they know really want to attend?
For a few of my schools, I got a prof to write about my qualifications in a particular program. I also wrote about the program in my LOCI. 26

This really shouldn't be an issue. Miami is the best school in South Florida, hands down. In Florida, the only schools worth considering are UF, Miami, and FSU.
Did you apply to UF? I know their tax law program is one of the best. As far as $$$ goes, perhaps you see it a different way, but I consider the debt a worthwhile investment that I plan to pay off in the years after law school in a high-paying job and before I settle down in a job that makes me really happy. Why not go to a school that will open more doors for you upon graduation? Just my $.02. 27
