« on: January 03, 2007, 06:56:40 PM »
im a dumbass i know.  letters of rec are just taking forever to get in.

i'm thinking it shouldn't make a huge difference bc my scores are the major median score for the places i want to go (WVU, SIUC, NIU, etc) but is there some big time things i should def keep in mind since it's so late?

is West Virginia ok?

I don't see anything wrong with West Virginia, but I've never been there. I have a couple of friends that went to school there and Joe bought a banjo during this period...so that's cool.

I'm just looking to get out of the area in a warm climate with pretty girls and a good curriculum.  I don't think that's too much to ask and I'm just hoping WVU isn't a boring hick magnet.  Some good bars, fun people and warm weather is really the question(s).

Choosing the Right Law School / West Virginia

I am seriously focusing on going to WVU in the fall as it seems I shouldn't have a problem getting in, it has a nice warm climate and it's far from what I have considered home, a personal desire based on needing a change in my life.  However, does anyone have any input on the school as a whole and the surrounding city/area?  I noticed they have a summer term in Brazil which I am interested in but other than that know very little.  Thanks.

Choosing the Right Law School / Re: T3 & T4 Acceptances and Rejections 2007
« on: December 19, 2006, 08:31:09 PM »
It looks like I'll be waiting awhile for an acceptance.  I had applied at Marquette, N. Illinois, and Drake as safety schools back at the beginning of November (I took the LSAT in Feb. and recently in Dec.).  I e-mailed Marquette and N. Illinois to confirm I was complete.  Both said my file is complete but they were waiting on my Dec. score to make a decision.

I was hoping I would get one acceptance sooner rather than later, but oh well.

that makes no sense - N. Illinois, with a 159, should be no trouble getting in.  I shouldn't have a problem and I have a 154, 3.2 from UofM....

Choosing the Right Law School / Schools that have Summer admissions
« on: December 03, 2006, 11:31:42 PM »
Does anyone know of schools that, should I be accepted, I could start this June?  I would hate to waste the summer not being in school (i'm used to year-round) and it'd be a nice kick in the ass to not get lazy and gain new bad habits

I have an "average" number set (154 LSAT, 3.2 GPA from top 20 school) and am wondering how to word a request to the schools I want to apply to for a fee waiver.  I know it's worth a shot and any I get would be $40-$50 in my pocket, which would be of great help, and am just wondering how people have gone about getting them.  I only have received two and haven't really received that many pamphlets to begin with so any help with how you have gotten one would be great.

Choosing the Right Law School / Application list - suggestions desired
« on: November 25, 2006, 07:48:15 PM »
I'm getting around to applying and have come up with a list:
1. Wayne State University
2. Louisiana State - Baton Rouge
3. Loyola University New Orleans
4. Northern Illinois University
5. Michigan State College of Law
6. University of Arkansas Little Rock
7. West Virginia University
8. Southern Illinois University
F) Ave Maria University School
F) Western New England College

I have a 3.2 UGPA from the University of Michigan and am finishing my Masters program in American Studies soon with a GPA around 3.6-3.7.  I know the MA GPA doesnt factor in that much but anyways.  I got a 154 on the LSAT and am unable to retake it.  I'm wondering if there are some input to be found on the schools listed above and if there's any schools I'm missing by not looking into them through sheer ignorance.  Also a recommendation on my most solid "reach" in the nation would be appreciated.  I'm not tied to any area/region.

PS - F) indicates I got a fee waiver so I thought 'what the hell'
