congrats tb. i was accepted, but i am not overly excited about the whole civil/common law. i understand you can take 3 extra classes to obtain a certificate. i think scholarships came with the acceptance. i could be wrong.

im gonna pimp the *&^% out of the certificates bc im definitely going to go for international certification, which is my interest

I got an enticing scholarship offer from LoyNola, and I’m stuck in-between Loyola Chicago (15k) and Loyola New Orleans (50k).  I want an adventure, hence the NOLA consideration (I’m from Detroit and been dodging bullets since the ripe-ole’ age of 10), but in a post-law school environment, Cash is key.  So, if I take up LoyNola on their offer and attend next fall, is there a good possibility I might be on the street asking one of you guys for change in three in a half years?  What da ya tink mon?

Note: Subjective thoughts are fine (even though they typically originate from the bunghole), but I would prefer something of a more objective nature, i.e., if ya know people, what you have heard through the grape vine, et cetera et cetera…

Word.

PS - I'm currently in Lansing in grad school but grew up in Grand Rapids and went to Michigan for undergrad.  if you end up going there, lemme know.  might be nice just for the sake of bullshitting with beer.

I'm apparently part of the Jim Jones class of 07 because i'm headed down there.  just because you go there doesn't mean you have to stay.  also, the last devastating hurricane before katrina was in the early 20th century.  by some people's suppositions, people should really avoid california in the next decade because it will be leveled.

I go to MSU for grad school right now and flat our refused to apply.  I am applying still to Wayne just to give myself options but I will tell you I am flat out unimpressed and completely disinterested with MSU law for more reasons than the flat-out drama llama everyone in it seems to be.

Could you please tell us some of your reasons for being unimpressed and disinterested? Do you have any specific examples?

the program has had little to no efforts made to even interest their own students, let alone retain.  people transfer, as i'm sure they do at other schools, but i know just a lot of people who are extremely unhappy being here.  the overall school has an aura of negativity and arrogance, not just the law, but i know, having gone to univ of michigan for undergrad (with no pretentiousness or whatever because of that rivalry) that i have encountered so much more drama and unhappy people here than anywhere i've visited or places i know people at.

I was accepted there, but not sure if I'm attending. My scholarship $$ came with the first letter...be warned, there will be many, many more letters coming soon. They are working hard to draw students.

damn that sucks.  i guess no money for me.
