OMG I'm so sorry!!  :( :(  What did it say?? Do you know if they've offered it to the initial 10 yet? I assume they have to offer it to ten people but keep others in the running in case any of those 10 don't end up attending. So since I haven't heard does that means I'm "waitlisted" so to speak?? Ohhh I'm nervous!!

Chin up mpmav1, maybe they offer hella financial aid to make up for so few merit scholarships!

Bump for those of you who insist on asking questions on other threads that have already been answered
Clearly I hadn't seen this thread.

Where's it looking like for you kates?
It's looking like yummy yummy American. Too bad every damn gay person in the world is going to Michigan.  ::)

Thanks Kitty! Turns out the Days Inn was a little pricey (wtf?) so I ended up right by the White House, but cheaper. (I'll have a car, I guess I'll be okay). Whew, that was exhausting.

Can anyone recommend some cheap hotels close to WCL? I don't know anything about DC and I'm feeling a little overwhelmed choosing a hotel! American has a list of hotels here: but they seem to be all over the city.

Bouzie congrats on Michigan, you're living the dream!!

<-------- Jealous!!

I'll be there!! I was thinking about zipping out around 5/6pm and zooming up to Philly for the Temple ASD on the 24th (you know, just in case American and I hate each other), but I'm still not sure. Are you guys sticking around for the reception, etc.?

Hey All!! I'm so glad I found you!! I'm 90% decided on American. I'm looking at going into gender/sexuality law - is anyone else interested in this?

A couple of things:

1) Thanks for all the postings about housing/parking, VERY VERY helpful!!

2) To answer Tuttipoopoo, yeah I'm pretty sure there are no merit-based scholarships for 1Ls (though maybe for 2 and 3Ls? Not sure) except the Public Interest/Public Service Scholarship which you had to apply separately for.

3) Questions for Shadowalker or anyone else: Can you talk about the write-on for the journals? There doesn't seem to be a lot of info online - but it looks like it's in the middle of the spring semester??? Is it super competetive, even for not-law-review journals? Do you know anything about "The Modern American" (publication devoted to diversity and the law) how to get on it, how respected it is, etc.?

Also, second semester 1st year: 2-3 credits of electives? Say more.

Cheers all! Can't wait to meet you in August!!

Does that mean you'll be there? Gotta represent!

Sooo . . . I'm noticing a lot of talk about DC - is anyone thinking about/definitely going to American?? I AM (somewhere between the former and the latter)!! So, you know how everyone's Lambda/Outlaw websites are embrassingly out of date? (Well except that holy grail Michigan but we can't all be so lucky can we). Well on the American one there's s link to where you can join their Yahoo discussion group . . . and it's SOOOO current, they're all "Meeting tomorrow!" "Drag Bingo on Friday!" "JAG Protest Tuesday!" - it's DREAMY I can't WAIT!!

So that's my advertisement and who's going to the ASW with me March 23?
