Current Law Students / Re: Hours of studying???
« on: February 06, 2008, 07:55:19 PM »
3 or 4 hours outside of class on a good day (i.e. studying a lot) ... I usually don't do any work on Saturdays.

Top 3rd of the class last semester, in case that helps.

I think it means that the author/judge is trying to hide that he/she has no idea what he/she is trying to say.

Doesn't your CPD (Career development people) help you out?  We get "postings/emails" about potential jobs (although very few in our area so far - I'm holding out, b/c they apparently hire later).  If they don't actively help you, then you should go talk to them - they DO have connections (provided that you don't have any connections to lawyers in your family or group of friends).

From what I've heard, you have plenty of time ... places hire through June (yes, through June ... I know that might be a little late to start, but still).  Some smaller firms and some judges just don't think about hiring this early, so there will be a lot of places that start hiring in March or April for the summer.  Or you could start talking to professors about opportunities (like researching with them or other options).

It isn't hopeless ... there are just a lot of overly eager beavers in LS. :D

Current Law Students / Re: Should I drop out?

Haha ... I agree with the "no better off w/o law school" argument ... I mean, even if I did not well at all in law school, at least I would have that degree.  If I dropped out in the middle ... what better job would I get with my fancy liberal arts (English) degree?

lol ... loved studying it, but not overly practial for making money.  Law/grad degrees help give you more ooomph.

If you are looking for exam prep info. odds are you didn't.

I'm not ... this isn't my thread.

I understand the aversion to LEEWS - it's freaking audio tapes / CD's that you have to listen to ... who does that anymore?  I want a book that I can read/re-read and skim/skip parts that don't apply.

Maybe this aversion to working through something is why you didn't do as well as you had hoped to begin with.

If you don't want to listen to the tapes, go to the one day seminar.

Who said I didn't do as well as I hoped?

Has anyone heard of those who after 1L have a low or non-paying job that doesn't take lots of hours (what I'm looking at might only be 30-35 hours a week), and then supplementing the low pay with another job (i.e. waitressing or something on Saturdays)?
