Law School Applications / Question/advice
« on: October 23, 2004, 05:59:33 PM »
Just got my score back from LSAC and not exactly ecstatic, a 160 when I was mid-160s through all my practice.  The main issue for me was the week before the LSAT, in which I was sick, it was a tough week at work and my grandfather (who I am close to) passed away the day before the LSAT.  Thus, my concentration was snapped for the test (I am actually suprised that I scored a 160 considering the circumstances).  I still thought I did well when I left the test and thus, did not cancel.

My goal school is UC Hastings (dream school Boalt), I have a 3.55 GPA.  Okay for hastings, not great for Boalt.

Here is my question.  Should I:
(a) Apply with my current stats and cross my fingers and hope for the best.
(b)  Re-take the LSAT in December and attempt to score the mid-160s I thought I would get and if I do, write an addendum into my record regarding why my score was lower the first time.

Any advice would be great.  Thanks!

I probably won't get on the board tomorrow.  Just wanted to wish everyone the best of luck on Saturday.  Just don't do better then me. ;D

Make sure you go have a drink to wind down after the test!

Countdown... less then 48 hours.  Bring it on.

Personal Statement / Multiple Personal Statements?
« on: June 22, 2004, 02:12:22 PM »
Okay, one quick questions related to the personal statement.  Sorry if this is a repost of any kind.  I searched it and could not find anything on these.

Do some LS require several personal statements?  I noticed http://www.deloggio.com/personal/joediver.htm had a personal statement, a diversity statement and a suplimental statement.  Is this typical or only at Boalt or what?

Thanks!

Law School Applications / LL.M question
« on: June 19, 2004, 12:49:50 AM »
Okay, I have looked through this forum and can't find that much information about LL.M.  What are the advantages to getting an LL.M (besides spending several extra grand)?  Does it provide much advangage in the job market?  Can you teach at a 4-year college with a LL.M or do you need a J.S.D?  Do most people get a LL.M while getting a J.D. or do they take the program after finishing law school?

Thanks!
