Law School Admissions / Speeding Tickets and Underage Drinking
« on: August 31, 2007, 08:44:27 PM »
I know you have to disclose everything, but could the following hurt me?

2001- Speeding Ticket
2002- Speeding Ticket
2003- Speeding Ticket

2003- Dorm Room, caught with rum
2004- Bar was raided and got a drinking ticket for being underage (in my city, a drinking ticket = very expensive citation... a la a parking ticket)

I am sort of nervous about it. Please let me know. Are these things addendum worthy bad?

Law School Admissions / What's wrong? I am not getting any fee waivers
« on: August 31, 2007, 08:37:20 PM »
I took the Sept. '06 LSAT and by last winter I was getting a decent amount of fee waivers. I never applied for the '07 cycle, as I am still an undergrad. Is there a way to notify law schools (other than submitting an application), that I am applying for the '08 cycle? I want me some application fee waivers.

In other words, what are some tier 1 or tier 2 schools which need Asian-American Males (like me)?

I know that Wisconsin has a low number of Asians, I believe Hispanic is their largest minority group at around 9%. I want to know if being a low-represented, but not URM, may help me admissions wise.

all input welcome. i can pm it to you, if you wish. thanks!

I posted this in another thread but got no response. Would love all the feedback I can get. I just don't know what to do.

So here's the story: I am having a good day, going to the office of admissions and records at my undergraduate university. I have them send out my transcript to lsac, and then I go home to do the same for my comm. colleges that I attend a couple summers. Well, I have a 4.0 at the community college down at school and then a 0.0 GPA at the community college in my hometown, because apparently I was enrolled in a Calc. class summer after senior year that I never withdrew from. I never even stepped foot into said calculus class. The comm. college said the best they could do was give me "Academic Forgiveness" but not get rid of the F. Further worsening the situation was that the F was in a 5 credit math class. WTF. How should I address this in an addendum? I have never had an F in my life, let alone anything lower than one C.  I hope my dreams of law school are not crushed.

Without this community college F: LSAC GPA = 3.54

With the 5 Credit F: LSAC GPA = 3.38

Please help me! What should I do?! I am freaking out.

Hi... simple, but dumb question:

When law schools post profiles of their incoming classes with GPA and LSAT, are they using the LSAC GPA or the GPA your undergraduate institution provides for you? More importantly, when they look to admit you, are they using LSAC's GPA or your undergrad's GPA?

Law School Admissions / BIG PROBLEM! Need your help/advice!
« on: August 28, 2007, 01:28:02 PM »
So I think I either failed or got a D in a summer community college math class, because I was ill and missed the withdrawal date. However, I took the equivalent of that course at my undergrad institution. Obviously, I am going to send in transcripts from all institutions so I can one day take the bar. Does anyone know how LSAC would then calculate my gpa? This was before I was even an undergrad in college. Would the fact that I took an equivalent class void the old grade, and thus not affect my gpa for the worse? If it does, should I write an addendum? This really sucks, I found this all out today.
