Well? What sense does that make?

My head was glistening after some pizza w/ Tabasco sauce.

Law School Applications / Off-topic board recruiting table.

We're looking for a few good posters for the OTB. Do you have the right stuff? Step right up, take a flyer, and tell a joke, tell a story. You can have a piece of candy even if you're not going to stay and chat and, yes, that is my natural hair color.

Here:
I just found a really funny new blog about law school. The guy who is writing the stuff is a hoot. You can find it at www.lawschoolblogger.com.

Here:
For some additional info on Depaul you may want to take a look at Rick Lax' blog at www.lawschoolblogger.com.  Rick has written a memoir on his first year of law school at Depaul, which will be published by St. Martin's Press next spring.

Here (note the tepid criticism designed to gain credibility):
Hey www.lawschoolblogger.com , why didn't you summer with your father's firm.  For that matter do you plan on getting a real legal job when you graduate or will you rely on the writing gig and expect to become the next Turrow?  Good luck!

The blog itself is pretty good, however I think some of the personal stuff isn't necessary on a law school related blog.  I'm interested in your law school experience, not in what you ate for lunch or where you took your date last night.

Here (defending lsb.com):

Here (defending again):
Julie

Kidding aside how does someone take 54 days out of their life and spend/waste it here?

and here:
Hey CamelMan why don't you let us know where you have been published.  From what I can tell St. Martin's Press is a pretty good publishing house.

That's it. The entirety of his posting history. Apparently one identity to pimp the blog and book wasn't enough--a made-up sycophant also had a role to play.

General Off-Topic Board / Prison libraries purge most religious texts

Quote
“Otisville had a very extensive library of Jewish religious books, many of them donated,” said David Zwiebel, executive vice president for government and public affairs for Agudath Israel of America, an Orthodox Jewish group. “It was decimated. Three-quarters of the Jewish books were taken off the shelves.”

Quote
“There are some well-chosen things in here,” Professor Larsen said. “I’m particularly glad that Dietrich Bonhoeffer is there. If I was in prison I would want to read Dietrich Bonhoeffer.” But he continued, “There’s a lot about it that’s weird.” The lists “show a bias toward evangelical popularism and Calvinism,” he said, and lacked materials from early church fathers, liberal theologians and major Protestant denominations.

The Rev. Richard P. McBrien, professor of theology at the University of Notre Dame (who edited “The HarperCollins Encyclopedia of Catholicism,” which did make the list), said the Catholic list had some glaring omissions, few spiritual classics and many authors he had never heard of.

General Off-Topic Board / Horse meat
« on: August 27, 2007, 08:25:20 PM »
What do you think about laws that ban horse slaughterhouses? What's the justification? I assume we don't eat cats and dogs because they are relatively intelligent, but so are pigs and cephalopods. Is it the distinction based on the total number kept as pets? Pigs are also pets, but there aren't as many.

My guess is that no one will come up with a justification, but no one would want to see such laws overturned. It's a just because law.
