It's a regional school with a fairly strong local reputation. If you want to practice in San Antonio, I'd say go for it - provided you get some $$. It's a tier 4 school and very expensive.
I live in Austin and know a handful of people that went to St. Mary's. A couple of them transferred to UT after their 1st year, but all of them seem to be doing quite well professionally.

I'm going to Thailand! Maybe another trip or two... I know I should be saving money before law school, but I can't help but think that this may be my last chance to travel for a very, very long time.

Really? I know South Texas has a good trial advocacy program, but what about U of H? It's a Tier 2 and has a better reputation overall.
It seems that Tulane is lowering their standards (ie accepting people like me with lower numbers and granting $$ to people with only above avg. numbers). I suspect the reason is to attract more people to the school after Katrina, but do you think that will affect their ranking?
