I'm in Section 2. I've got Donahue, Warren, Meltzer and Leubsdorf (visiting from Rutgers). I've looked at the evals but if anyone has any insider info, I'd love it!

General board for soon-to-be 1Ls / Re: How many miles for your big move?« on: July 15, 2008, 01:56:07 PM »I'm moving from Philly to Winston-Salem--it's about an 8 hour drive. To the people paying $3000+ plus to move all their stuff: is that really even worth it? Why don't you just craigslist the hell out of furniture/TVs/etc when you get down there? And yes, craigslist is a verb. I thought about this, but our big screen LCD alone is worth $3000. Add all of the furniture and the mass amounts of kitchen stuff that we have, mountain bikes, snowboarding equipment and it adds up to well over $3000. 4
General board for soon-to-be 1Ls / Re: HLS Class of 2011, even if you are just thinking about coming!« on: July 14, 2008, 06:54:21 PM »A note for after you get your section assignments: I almost feel bad spoiling the fun, but if you're an extremely anxious type who is LUCKY ENOUGH to get Hanson as your torts prof/section leader, he (+ coauthor) has an article on SSRN about his approach to tort law. Link: http://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=1154164 Last year they came through about August 15. But, they were sent to permanent addresses which is rough since many people had moved already. Also, once they were sent out, section leaders often sent out an email introducing themselves to their section so that helped those who weren't at their permanent addresses. Finally, last year HLS made a bit of a mistake by accidentally posting sections online under MyHLS or something like that a week before they were released (and an LSDer found the mistake! But by the time many people checked, they were no longer posted). I've been trying, but we can't even log in to that yet. I'm guessing they won't make the same error this year. 5
General board for soon-to-be 1Ls / Re: How many miles for your big move?« on: July 14, 2008, 11:09:23 AM »For those of you who left jobs with a longer tenure, how much notice did you give? The standard 2 weeks? I've worked for my firm for about 3 years and I gave MONTHS and MONTHS of notice. However, I was very honest with my firm about the fact that I was applying to law school and used one person from the firm as a reference. I was really lucky, but I know not everyone can do this. My boyfriend gave his firm about 6 weeks notice. I think the amount of notice you give depends on your relationship with your firm (especially your boss), the actual job that you have, and the amount of time that you've worked there. I do not, however, think there is a one-size-fits-all standard to notice - you have to feel it out and weigh your money needs with the likelihood that you will be terminated early, etc. 6

Ooh! I think I win this one. Los Angeles to Boston - 3000 big ones. My boyfriend, my Rottweiler, and me. In a Camry across the country. Luckily family lives in St. Louis, so we'll stop there for a few days first.

So loan info was just sent although it's incomplete (MEFA terms (interest rate, fees) are not yet determined). Also, the Stafford lender chart isn't available yet this year so I'm not sure which lenders have which fees and everything. I feel like in years passed, there more supplemental loan options, but i could be wrong What are you all thinking of doing, loan-wise?

Hey class of 2010. Just wanted to say hello (from the Class of 2011). How was everyone's first year? Any Law Review news? Also, I was wondering where you all are living next year. I have an apartment in between HLS and Inman Square and will be in Cambridge mid-August. I'd love to say hello to anyone who is around (of any year, not just the class of 2011). I hope you all survived this year and look forward to meeting you next year.
Thanks, Jaime |
