Where should I go next fall? / Regional v. national name recognition
« on: October 07, 2008, 11:08:28 PM »
I understand that the top 14-20 schools (or so) have national name recognition.  The rest are considered regional schools.  Does this distinction matter outside of biglaw?

I'm interested in public interest, advocacy, or maybe government.  Assuming I don't choose to attend a t14, is it necessary to choose a school near where I would like to work after graduation?

Law School Applications / Re: fee waivers two years after taking LSAT

Bridget - I'm in the same position.  I'd be interested to know how that works out.  Would you re-post with an update on your success/failure in getting waivers?

I'm in the same situation.  I plan to use the same letters supplemented by a LOR from an employer.  At least that will show that I impressed someone new in the last two years.

I took the LSAT in October of 2005.  Any idea how to go about getting fee waivers for this cycle?

Just see if you can access the admitted students forum and find out.  There's a link to it on the status check.

There is?  :-[

Fordham has been a nightmare for me.  I applied in early December and I'm still not complete, even after weekly phone calls for the past month.

Apparently went to decision Friday and missed it. Hoping to find something waiting for me at home.

UVA's status checker page hasn't loaded for me all day on two different computers.  Anyone else have this trouble?

Volver is good.  Pan's Labyrinth is excellent.

A-ha.  I have no car.  I wonder if flying from LGA or JFK is feasible.

WeeSqueak - how do you plan on getting there?  Transportation to Ithaca from NYC is more expensive than I expected.
