Congrats on the deferral Zardoz!

I was just wondering if anyone knows of a link to a good blog by a UMich Law student.  I suppose a 1L blog might be the most helpful to me but I wouldn't mind reading anything that is related to law school life there in Ann Arbor.  I have looked around a little and haven't found anything so I figured someone on here might know of one.

Thanks for the response.  Now it makes sense why I might have heard both ways (considering they don't rank until after graduation).  I should be seeing most of you a year after you start.  Good luck!

Sorry, this may well be back there somewhere and I did honestly try to use the search to find out.  I was just wondering if UMich discloses class rank to potential employers or not.  I think I remember seeing it both ways at different times and was just wanting to have a clear answer.

Law School Admissions / Re: WORST AND BEST SCORES ON THE LSAT?
« on: June 30, 2008, 01:10:08 PM »
My initial was a 152.  After a lot of self study I scored a 166.  Then I decided I could do better, studied a lot more (3 months straight) and got a 166 again after consistently scoring in the 170's.  Good luck when it comes time for you to take it again and start studying.

OK, so this is kind of blatant trolling but I was really suprised with how helpful the admissions staff was at UMich about my getting a deferral.  I thought there was no chance in all of this world but they were fairly helpful.  The rest of the game was as I had expected with my numbers and background.  I got waitlisted all over the place with a 166/4.0 but the two acceptances I did get Mich and Vandy were enough to make me happy and my decision easy.

Job Search / Will paralegal job help?
« on: June 02, 2008, 12:50:21 PM »
Ok, so I just started as a paralegal at a public interest law firm in Kansas.  I was just wondering if people feel this might help me out in the 1L job search?  I have been accepted to UMich and by the time I attend will have about a year of paralegal experience (working social security disability cases).  I think that I may be most interested in looking at coming back to Kansas after law school (and possibly looking for a bigger law (because nothing is big in Kansas) job after 1L).

Do any of you guys play an instrument? I think it'd be cool to have like a "band" evening where we can jam out every week during law school.

And does anyone planning on going to Michigan play D&D? I would like to keep my involvement in the game alive.
Ok, I knew I liked people on here.  I play guitar and would love to get together and play with others.  Also, I haven't played much D&D in a while (and with the risk of outing myself as a nerd) I would be willing to pick it up more if there was a good group.

I had a real question though...  I was just wondering how the grading system works (is it +/-) and if there are any classes that are not graded first semester (I think someone mentioned that legal writing isn't.

Well, I did it.  I just reserved a place in the first admitted students preview.  I look forward to seeing a lot of you there and hope we set up some time to hang out.

Incoming 1Ls / Re: how do they expect you to file by March 1?

I don't know if I just have the wrong impression but it looks like both need access and FAFSA are willing to let you just use estimates to figure out all of that information.  I understand that with FAFSA I have to go back once everything is filed and update the forms with the correct information but that doesn't really seem like that much of a hassle.  Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks all, I would be a fall starter.  Thinking about the second admit day.  It looks like most people are thinking about the first though is that right?
