Like Keating said, Take melatonin.  I love the stuff.  During the school year I often take it Sunday nights so I can get to sleep at a reasonable time...my sleeping habits get out of whack from the Thurs-Fri-Sat weekly partying.

It works great though.

If you can study leading up to the test in October, then you should propably postpone it.  It sounds like you don't really have much to lose by postponing it.  But if you do postpone, draw up a study plan of some sorts and stick to it.

Hobby Lobby has a variety of mechanical pencils with different thicknesses of lead.  You could get one that is a little thicker than usual...

Studying for the LSAT / Re: Hiring a LSAT tutor... any advice...?
« on: June 04, 2004, 08:34:40 PM »
I finish my Princeton Review class next tuesday as well.  It was a large waste of money.  The class went at a snail's pace.

My PR teacher did offer free "office hours" help though.  He met with some people just about every day.  I met with him just once though.

You should check before or after this Saturday's practice test if your instructor does that.

I don't think the tutoring helps me any.  I just have to sit down, put the time in, and figure it out on my own.  Oh well.  I've ordered a lot of the preptests to go over and will probably take the LSAT in October.  The only time I improve is when I study the LSAT on my own.  The Princeton Review class time didn't seem to help me except for the group-therapy-type atmosphere.  It was nice knowing a group of people going through the stress of the LSAT.

If your dead set on getting a tutor you and you think your PR teacher is any good, you could hire him/her.

Good luck.

I don't know anything about the Evelyn Wood's program.  But, I took a speed reading class at my high school 4 years ago.  It seemed to help RC, etc. but I'm sure it had something to do with having to read every day.  The class was a semester long.  We tested our speed/RC at the beginning of the class.  Then did the "techniques" for the semester taking a quiz (reading passage w/ questions) each week.

You basically learn how to skim effectively.

My speed went from 275wpm to a little over 900wpm on the weekly quizzes.

What was interesting though, is that at the end of the semester the teacher had us take a quiz (reading passage) and we were supposed to read at our normal comfortable pace instead of the hurried-speedreading/skimming.  I read the passage at what seemed to be amazingly slow, but read the passage around 400wpm.

The class probably couldn't hurt.  But, it's probably better to just do a lot of the old RC sections of the preptests.

Hope that helps.

So what's the final review for the class?  Was it worthwhile?

I think the last day is June 13 if you change it online.  I'm probably going to move my test date...

You don't really have anything to lose by taking it then.   I'm in a similar situation (not scoring where I want to and an economics major)  as you.  I'm graduating next May as well.  I know a couple of guys that took the LSAT last October, they're going to various law schools in the fall...

Good luck.

Hmm.  That's really annoying...I pre-ordered them.  If LSAC can push back the release of the old tests a couple weeks, we should be able to push back the real test date a couple of weeks.

Round up the troops, and start the Revolt!!!
