U of Texas - Austin / Re: Cheap ways to relax before LS starts

Friday night we went out and spent $5 a piece, and got about 6 drinks a person.

Man that's cheap! Although that is good for my wallet it's probably bad for my liver and grades especially since I usually gauge when it's time to go home by how much I've spent and am used to factoring for $5 drinks. I should probably focus on adjusting that idea before I actually head down to 6th street or I'll definitely end up one of those people who leaves LS for Christmas break and you never see them again b/c they flunked out.

do we have to join the group again for the UT/OU game, or not?
You don't have to, but if you do you'll get seated with people you already know, if not you'll be thrown into the wilderness that is the Cotton Bowl on OU weekend. I've done both, and had no problems either way. It's all about personal preference.

So then you have to get assigned seating?  Here I thought it'd be like my alma mater, where there was the "student section" of first come first serve.  Bollocks.

But at least then you don't have to show up six hours early for a game! I went to Syracuse and during basketball season we lined up at least six hours before every home game to get good seats in the student section. And our tickets were WAAAAAAY overpriced! Tickets for mens basketball only were almost $200 and we didn't get tickets to any away games. I think the system here is so much more efficient and student friendly!

I have to train my replacement for 3 weeks!  There isn't nearly enough to do for there to be two of us for that long.

Believe me, it could be worse. I started training the replacements for my job (yes, they needed two full-time people to fill the job that I did as a student for about 30 hours a week) in March. Sad thing is, they still weren't ready for it when I left at the end of May and I still get calls/emails to help them out on projects.

I'd be happiest if I could get all my classes done before noon.  Too bad there's not a way to get all the morning people in one section.

Syracuse / Re: Help! Housing problem.

Will it be possible to get an apartment next week that is within walking distance of campus?  I want to get a one bedroom or studio.  Please send advice. I am going to go up to Syracuse July first to begin looking.

The school has graduate housing apartments on the South Campus that are about a 5 minute bus ride from the school and a shuttle runs about every 10 minutes during the week and every half hour on weekends.

Is it odd that I'm a little dissapointed that I don't fit into any of those stereotypes?  >:(

If it is then we are in the same boat.

I have a little jack russell terrier/chihuahua mix that my little sister and brother found dirty and hungry running on the streets of our hometown a few months back. His face is all chihuahua but his coloring, demeanor and energy level are all Jack Russell. My sister was studying spanish at the time and decided that since he was a "pretty boy" in her mind that she would name him Chico Bonito. He didn't get along with my mom's two cats so he had to find a new home and that ended up being with me. Unfortunately he is a stubborn little dog and no amount of effort could change his name. Luckily, he does get along with other dogs so we're looking to get him a larger puppy friend really soon. He's the first small dog I've ever had and it is hard to get used to having a 9 pounder when my previous dog Bud was a 200 pound rottweiler.

Since I can't get an image to embed itself here, here's a link:

I wish it was August 20th or something.  I'm dying to start!

I know! I think the waiting around all summer for it is giving me entirely way too much time to overthink, overanalyze and overworry.

And the knot in the pit of my stomach begins now...
