no salsa dancers out there? sad. very sad.
btw, in case anyone is interested (which I'm sure you're not), the ballroom dance club begins on September 5th, and it's free for the first week.
Margee, if you're on the myspace group I noticed that one of the users in the UTLaw2009 group there was also asking if anyone was interested in dance. You should check it out!

Did anyone in section 3 have their assignments show up yet in blackboard?
« on: August 24, 2006, 10:21:46 AM »
We have all our assignments except LRW.
Btw, Kadens sounds very... demanding. No computers in class, being unprepared lowers your grade, more than 9 absences = automatic F.
Not that I plan on missing class, but.... *sigh* I was so hoping for an education experience unlike the on I had in UG.
And I am insanely jealous right now because Section 3's assignments are no where to be found right now. Yours are just posted in blackboard in the section for the particular class under course documents, assignments etc right?

So, we have one more week before Orientation begins and our pre-law school easy living days are over. How's everyone feeling?

Wait, you guys have cars? I've lived the impoverished life of a student for too long -- I've been living without a car for 4 years!
Me too but I've decided I'm leaving the broke undergraduate student life behind for a slightly less broke law student with a car life. And, I figure it will become a necessary evil come December when we start applying for summer jobs.
I really really hate driving. My first big gift to myself after I graduate, pass the bar, get a good job, pay off my student loans, buy a house and have extra disposable income (I really hope this happens!) is a car service. Big dream I know, but it will encourage me to do as well as I can to get as good a job as I can so that I can make this happen as soon as I can.

Actually, was just looking at the "My Tuition Bill" page, and was confused because:
a) the amount due was a few grand less than it should be and
b) there was no option to "apply financial aid" like they said there would be.
So I called the Financial aid office (again) and they said that this is an intermediate step and that final tuition due and financial aid won't be ready on that site till Monday at the earliest. They also said all the 1L's are too snoopy and keep finding things on the website before we're meant to.
(I tried to convince them that I would happily pay the reduced tuition instead...they weren't buying it! )
I noticed the same thing earlier. I went to "what I owe" and then clicked on the see tuition bill part and in that area there was an option to pay with financial aid. Thanks for the heads up on the amounts being different. I noticed it too but didn't get a chance to call fin aid before they closed for the day.

Note, that for car loans, I'd probably still choose to get a loan for the car, since you can typically find someplace to get good interest rates (3% range) on a new car. That's even lower than everything except the Staffor subsidized loan (where the government pays for the interest till you gradaute).
That's my plan, now I just get to put a little more down.

Either way, I have to buy a car since my fiance and I are sharing one car now and it is a pain. I decided to take the extra $ for the year in the loan, especially since we are looking at moving to a nicer apartment so my share of the rent will be more anyways.
Thanks for helping me to think it through a little more clearly.

If you aren't getting that much in scholarship, this won't apply to you Jess. This only applies if your other financial aid doesn't cover your tuition.... Since you make it seem that you didn't get that much, then I wouldn't worry about it.
It's just enough that I have to shell out about $750 to the school since I didn't max out my loans for the year. So I can either pay the $750 to the school and get it back in a week or I can change my loans to get a bit more, avoid the entire hassle and then buy a little bit of a nicer car....
So tempting, but alas I must do the more fiscally responsible thing. I'm just going to suck it up, pay the school the money and then get it back a week later.

First, remember that it'll probably still be 100+ degrees outside when we get one the boats.
Second, if you scroll down in this:
There's a pic from one of last year's cruises. It appears dresses would be too much, and that the ladies were wearing as little as possible because, as I've already stated, it's gonna be really hot.
Thanks! Problem solved.
