Non-Traditional Students / Re: Non-trad LSAT Scores for June 2006

I took it last October and I got a 160 after blowing part of my best section. Don't let your score get you down. I cried and cried and was depressed for a while as I did so much better on practice tests. But I got into University of Baltimore with a full scholarship. The school might not have a high ranking but it is a very good school, IMO, regionally. There are a lot over undervalued schools out there.

158.

The damn thing kicked my ass. I was consistently practicing around 163-165.

Irony of ironies: Logic games was my best section after always being my weakest.

My initial reaction is "F*ck that! I KNOW I can do a lot better." But part of me is thinking: "Why bother? Maybe my worse-than-expected performance is a sign that law is not the path I am supposed to take."

You can still get into a good school with that score.  I got a 159 when I took it last year and had similar feelings to what you're expressing now..I cried my eyes out, in fact.
Don't get too down on yourself.  Lots of people underperform on the LSAT.  T14 might not be a realistic option for you, but if your main priority is to be a lawyer, then a lower T1 or T2 will suffice.  Many schools in that range have excellent regional reputations and might even throw some scholarship money your way (that was my experience).

My last day at work is this Friday and I am due at school August 14th. My assignments will be up next week. I can't believe it is this close either. It is making my stomach hurt!

LSAT horror stories / Re: LSAT nightmares

I took them last October and had trouble with the games. I practiced so much that I stayed in a half-sleep state much of each night prior to the test. I was doing logic games in my half-sleep!

I get lots of lawyer jokes that are rude and am told that I have to learn to deal with it. I am constantly put in a position where I feel some need to justify my decision because of the negative perceptions people have about lawyers. Even people who know me seem to think I am in it for the money at first. I also sometimes run into people who treat me like a trick pony and quiz me on legal and government issues. I just refuse to participate anymore and let people think what they want.

Oh, but my favorite was when I told a couple of people who know me, but not very well, and who went to law school themselves, that I was going to law school. I got youwant to go to lawschool?! Nice.

Non-Traditional Students / Re: For individuals who scored a 160+

I had serious problems with the logic games, so I took the Power Score full length course. I missed a couple of classes and did not do all of the work and it still helped a lot. Towards the end I did almost all of the practice tests and questions, and I was regularly getting all of the reading comp and logical reasoning questions correct. I saw some imporovement in my games too. I am glad that I took it because I really screwed up during the actualy test but still got a 160. I was doing much better on the practice tests.
