Lesbians are joyless and don't get to make fine jokes like these.

Are you sure?  I thought all the joyless women were just feminists, not necessarily sapphic-ists.

Good point:  feminists are joyless; lesbians are sexless.

well then I might as well just kill myself right now.

Bridget, we don't know each other, but I am both, so please be assured that this was a feeble stab at humor.  (My feminism obviously hindered me in this regard, you see.)

as was my response.  clearly, another failure of feminism.

Only for a few years, then I came back 'round.

I was waiting for something like that.

Yeah thanks.  We're here all week.  Don't forget to tip your server!

yes, that's the real reason for no 4.0... too busy controlling curls!

having a life was more important.  I could have lived in the library, but i would have no amazing significant other,  no resumé, fewer great memories, and very few friends if I had a 4.0.
probably would have saved on rent though...

General Off-Topic Board / Re: My friend was just raped
« on: December 14, 2006, 09:22:29 AM »
all that aside, the most important thing you can do for her is let her decide what to do.  trust me on this.  She just lost all power and control and the sooner she can feel like she's getting it back, the better.  Wanting to prosecute so it doesn't happen to anyone else is a common reaction, as is saying "we must go to the hospital NOW, don't question it."  but telling her she HAS to do anything will only exacerbate things.

Also, a rape kit is a VERY invasive procedure.  Some people compare it to being raped all over again.  For some it provides more of a sense of control, liek they're taking positive steps.  Again, it's all up to her.

i don't know where you live, but many areas have rape crisis centers and aside from local hotlines, there is a national one 1-800-656-4673.

I got the Stanford mailing today, too.  Also got a waiver from Northeastern, one from loyola (CA), and a mailing from cooley.

I've been waiting for a Northeastern fee waiver for weeks, and today i finally got one- not because i'm above their 75ths, but because I'm in love with a woman.  I'll take what I can get.

Anyone else get this today?  the waiver form actually has the code CRSGLBT on it.  it's a pretty good mailing, with a mini law magazine featuring their graduates who work for gay rights and a letter from the "gender, sexuality, and the law" professor.

General Off-Topic Board / Re: Worst movies ever
« on: November 28, 2006, 10:41:06 AM »
Bring It On: Again and Bring It On: All or Nothing.  the second movie (in which Whittier rediscovers her cheer spirit) was truly the worst of the trilogy, but the third (with frequent use of the word cheer-topia) was close behind, redeemed only by the fact that they got both Solange Knowles and Rihanna.

You did like Bring It On, though, right?

but of course.  it's one of my favorites.
