I'll be the April preview weekend if anyone wants to take a look or ask questions in person.  Or I can be emailed ljong@umich.edu

Law School Admissions / Re: Joint Degree Applicants Past/Present? Anyone?

i was considering mpp programs and found many of those deadlines are prior to law school deadlines...though not exactly sure if policy programs use a rolling deadline so depending on the school/program timing may be more or less.  however a lot of the policy applications are more demanding than law school ones in that they require writing samples and/or more focused essays and there's isn't something similar to lsdas for policy schools so you have to do a separate application for each school...so a separate lor form for each school...different essays, requirements...requires more attention to details and grunt work since it's not streamlined.

on the gre front...gre is less demanding that lsat's.  take a few practice exams and if you feel alright, go ahead and take it.  and policy schools seem more subjective than number focused, so if you have good soft factors they would offset a weaker gre score anyway.

good luck.

Choosing the Right Law School / Re: law versus policy school

i've been out of school for a few years and have some work experience.  i'm actually thinking of doing a joint jd/mph or mpp/mph...so as of right now i'm leaning towards the jd/mph...i figure i would get some of the similar skills i lack in policy via a mph...while also getting the legal knowledge that may come useful later on throug the jd.  i'm just concerned about how good of a jd program i can get into and the money factor.

lots of good advice though...

is it better to go to an okay law school or to a really great public policy school?  how much does the school name matter?

Not sure if I should apply to law school or policy school...any thoughts?  suggestions?  I know law school means more loans and it would be tougher to get into a brand name school...but then law school would be a more competitive degree and it seems knowing law would be important later in policy type work as well as more versatile...

I graduated Georgetown with a 3.63 GPA...worked for a law firm for a year...did a Public Health Fulbright Research grant and am now working at a nonprofit doing development work.
The 159 LSAT score is from October 2003 (bad day), the 165 is from June 2006.

I'm thinking about doing a JD/MPH...I know Georgetown/Hopkins and UMich has these programs.  But what are my chance for these schools?  Which schools should I be looking at?...Anyone know of other JD/MPH programs?
Also...anyone know of public health program rankings with info?...The US News doesn't have much.

Thanks in advance!
