i think we are having an admitted students day this week.
finals start in 6 days so everyone is cramming, but if anyone is attending smu next fall and is in town for admitted students day, let me know and i'll try to make time to say hi and answer any questions you have.
if you do end up at smu, i have a ton of outlines for all of the 1L classes and random classes

It always seems like places run out of my size, but there are tons of other sizes.
I'm 34" x 32"

Is that just a really popular size for guys?

If i want a new pair of jeans, sometimes i just have to stop by just to check and see if they got a new shipment in of that size because most places are always friggin' out of that size.
i'm a low maintenance guy, so i usually just stick to levis.
but i got tired of waiting for that size to be available and got a pair of calvin klein jeans at costco....well, they had 34" x 32", but now i feel like a metrosexual for wearing ck jeans and i'm just wondering what the deal is with everyone running short of 34" jeans!

and i'm very bored

General Off-Topic Board / ITT we help jer pick out a new best friend
« on: March 29, 2007, 07:33:28 AM »
ok, i won't get into the politically incorrect version of why i have given up hope of ever getting Mia back.  basically, a couple of my neighbors seem to think that kind of doggie (small to medium tan chihuahua mix) ends up 'lost' in the neighborhood frequently never to return and they think it's probably because the guys working new construction in the area take them home.

so i am looking for a new best friend.
i've always wanted a chocolate lab, so i am wanting to find a female chocolate lab or lab mix.  akc papers aren't necessary at all, i'd actually prefer to save one from a shelter.  a mix would be fine if it was a smaller breed mix (not a lab/great dane mix).

i mainly looked at petfinder and craigslist in my zip (76116) so far.

here are the early contenders:

HERSHEY info link:

SALLY info page:

ISABELLA info link:

ZENA info link:

frannie is a mix and is a great weight at 45-50 pounds, but she is 4-5 yrs old.  larger dogs don't live as long as smaller breeds, so that's a big negative in adopting an older larger dog.

zena is about 2 and it says she is very friendly and lovable.  she probably won't last long before she's adopted.

isabella seems like a deep chocolate and is a very pretty dog, and i love that name and wouldn't change it.

asia is about 2 hrs away, but really looks the best from the pics.  absolutely beautiful.

i don't watch heroes and i don't watch lost.
never seen an episode, so i don't know if they are good or not.

best show on has got to be 24.

but this thread is for the worst new shows, or worst old shows....  basically, what are the crappiest shows currently on network tv or cable, with an emphasis on network shows?

for me, i've watched jericho, and i don't know why.
the guy is a poor choice for a lead character.  he's just not a strong enough actor to carry the lead role.

same with the guy in what about brian.  i like the guy, but i don't think either of these two guys have the charisma to be lead actors at this point in their careers.

I need a new cell phone plan and provider.
I'm planning on not using a home phone and just using my cell phone.
these are the current plans and prices i'm looking at:

cingular: 450 anytime minutes, 5000 nights/weekends (9pm-6am) , plus rollover minutes for $29.99

or 900 anytime minutes for $44.99

verizon: 450 anytime minutes, unlimited nights and weekends (mon-fri 9pm-6am, weekend is midnight saturday to midnight sunday), $31.99

or 900 minutes for $47.99

nextel (sprint): 450 minutes, unlimitied nights/weekends (7pm - 7am), $32.79

or 900 minutes - $49.19

sprint: 450 minutes,  unlimited nights/weekends (7pm - 7am), unlimited mobile to mobile, $35.99

or 900 minutes - $53.99

i'm thinking i like the 900 minutes on cingular with rollover minutes.  i don't like the 9pm-6am nights/weekends, but i do like the rollover minutes.  i could probably get by with 450, but i don't want to hassle with increasing the minutes later and not get my company discount if i change plans after i quit my job and start using the phone more since i won't be using the phone at work for calls during the day.

i'm a guy, so i have no idea how people go over 450 minutes.  that's a lot of friggin' talking.  but i guess i'll just get the 900 minutes to be safe.

all plans require a 2-yr contract.

is it even worth it to get a blackberry or anything like that, or should i just wait and see if i really need it?
i'm thinking i'll go by a cingular place tomorrow at lunch and check out the phones they have, but i have to order online for my company discount.

and cingular models that are just plain crappy?
any cingular models that will be good and last?

/heading home, so i'll check back in a bit

General Off-Topic Board / The Good Morning Thread!
« on: January 15, 2007, 06:42:52 AM »
because we have a goodnight thread,
but nowhere to check in for the people who wake up early,
either by choice or for work.

here's a sweet wakeup song just for you:

apparently, i'm old.

"Jer is for jeriatric" - demingh

i'm hoping the senility will balance out my tourettes.
this thread will help keep track of some of my favorite things.

so, every time i see a nice quote that may be sigworthy for me or someone else, i'm gonna place it in here so i don't lose it.
srsly, it's kinda sad to think some perfectly good quotes get lost for a good short-term quote.

feel free to add a quote for future use.

NO EDITING quotes from other threads so they are taken out of context; this isn't the admissions calculator thread.

you can add the link the the original thread if you want, or just a small blurb about it if it won't make sense to anyone else.

i'll also add other quotes people are using as sigs, just because it'd be nice to see all of the sigs in one place.

feel free to drop off your favorite 'tars so you always know where to find them.

so, 'tars and sigs.

i guess if you need to add a couple of comments to enable people to put the sig in proper context, that's fine.

edit: while we're bending the rules, maybe post anything from another thread that just seems bizarre or random, just for laughs. (link to thread would help)

EDIT: by request, quotes you would expect to hear from people will be allowed.  if possible, edit an existing quote that will provide context to the expected quote.

1st example of a quote you expect to hear from someone at some point in the future:

I have been yield protected at Harvard

men's college semifinals are on,
#8 ucla vs #4 uva

6 minute in and uva has almost scored twice

i think final game is tomorrow

better than the CT-louisville game

sure, we're one big, happy family,
but you gotta do what you gotta do.

someone just isn't pulling their weight around here,
not only are they not funny, but they can't take a joke, either,
and they lack the social skills to even be aware of how much people can't stand them,
so they won't even see this coming

i nominate that jer guy

/just sayin'

General Off-Topic Board / Suggest an avatar for a fellow LSDer
« on: November 27, 2006, 01:48:47 PM »
suggest an avatar for a fellow LSDer,
either in words or by posting a pic.
can either match up with their name, personality, inside joke, or reference a recent post from another thread.

if you want to post a suggestion and give people an opportunity to guess who the avatar recommendation is for, that's fine, too.

these are two of the easiest examples i can think of right now

these would be a bit more difficult to guess, but still kinda easy
