Law School Admissions / Application Preview
« on: September 10, 2006, 05:02:12 PM »
anyone submitted an application yet? there is a new feature that automatically converts everything to PDF (which i think is awesome) and allows you to preview before you send? my buddy who applied last year said they didn't have it available and that once you attached things you couldn't see them and had no way to verify that it looked the way you intended it resume is formatted perfectly...and i already caught myself almost send a personal statement directed toward one school to a different school...just wondering if anyone else found this helpful

Minority and Non-Traditional Law Students / 1L Jobs
« on: August 20, 2006, 09:28:54 AM »
since i always find the most helpful info in this thread i thought i would ask if anyone's prior experience helped them get a 1L job. I've read that it is very hard for 1Ls to get firm jobs due to lack of experience. I'm just wondering if non-trads would have an advantage due to most of us having career's before law school?

Black Law Students / Admissions Advice
« on: June 17, 2006, 11:55:13 AM »
Hello everyone. I'm hoping you all will give me some advice. I am an older student looking to apply for Fall 07. I would like to know what people wrote about in there personal statements and do they think it made a difference. I've been adivsed to talk about socioeconomic factors etc. problem is I'm 33 and though I did have socioeconomic factors growing up I have a very good paying job now, I did a stint in the military, work as a government contractor and have all kinds of life and work experience since that time. I'm afraid if I don't tell the typical growing up in the hood story then my statement won't cut the mustard. In additon seems kind of lame to write about something that affected me as a teen ager now that I am grown. Any advice by those who have been accepted could give would be greatly appreciated.
